I am (All of Me), of course, talking about the inclusion of Crush 40’s iconic Live and Learn, which is one of the main themes of the game that debuted Shadow the Hedgehog – Sonic Adventure 2. Considering how little the Sonic movies use music from the games, fans have wondered for a long time whether it’d end up making the cut, something that was happily proven to be the case in the final movie.
Sonic 3’s Director Says Fans Would Have Hunted Him Down For Not Including Live And Learn
While the Sonic community has been up in arms for a while about whether Live and Learn would be featured in Sonic 3, it seems that the decision had already been set in stone long before the movie released. GamesRadar+ recently had the chance to speak to the film’s director, Jeff Fowler, where they asked him about the iconic song being used.
Fowler said that one of the first things you hear when playing Sonic Adventure 2 is some riffs from Live and Learn, showing how iconic it is to the game as a whole. The director said that there wasn’t a version of the film without the song and joked that fans would have hunted him down if he missed it out. Beyond that, he also says it’s an “awesome song” that he was happy to get to use.
I just felt there was no version of this where we weren’t going to make that a strong presence in the film. The fans would hunt me down if I didn’t. Not only did I do it out of fear of my own life, but also because it’s an awesome song and we’re happy to get to use it. – Jeff Fowler
While Live and Learn has long been hinted at being in Sonic 3, it’s very wish-fulfilling to see how it was included so front and centre. Sadly, it seems like the song might not be paraded around by Sega so much in the future, as Crush 40’s lead has sued the company over its use of Live and Learn.
