Marvel Rivals Characters With The Best Crowd Control

Marvel Rivals Characters With The Best Crowd Control

Summary

  • Characters with crowd control abilities can easily disperse and slow down the enemy team in Marvel Rivals.
  • Characters like Peni Parker, Venom, and Storm possess crowd-control abilities that can turn the tide of a match.
  • Abilities like Peni’s Bionic Spider-Nest, Venom’s Frenzied Arrival, and Storm’s Goddess Boost are effective for crowd control.

Characters with good crowd control are able to easily disperse and slow down the enemy team, ensuring they can’t form together to dish out tons of damage all in one go. This is especially important in Marvel Rivals, considering each team contains 6 players overall, making it all too easy for a few opponents to remain in close proximity to one another so that they can use their powers in tandem.

Marvel Rivals: 12 Characters With The Most Health, Ranked

Those looking to stay alive in Marvel Rivals should give these characters a try, as they come with some of the largest health pools in the game.

Thankfully though, there are several heroes and villains who possess abilities that can slow, stun, and separate a group of opponents to ensure they never become too big of a problem. While these abilities tend to be a little tricky to use, they can help to turn a match around when used effectively by controlling an oncoming wave of enemies when they start getting a little too close for comfort.

Peni Parker

Peni Can Immobilize High-Value Targets While Also Dealing Damage to Multiple Enemies With Her Webs

  • Bionic Spider-Nest: Create a web that periodically spawns Spider-Drones. Peni also gains healing over time and a movement boost.
  • Arachno-Mines: Explosive mines that can be concealed within Cyber-Webs
  • Cyber-Web-Snare: Cast a web that immobilizes enemies or creates a Cyber-Web.

Peni Parker is a Vanguard who holds many unique tricks up her sleeves, one of the most effective in terms of crowd control being the Bionic Spider-Nest. When thrown out, the nest will cover a wide area with Spider-Drones which will damage nearby enemies at random, making them useful for whittling down multiple health bars at once.

The same goes for her Arachno-Mines, which are much harder to spot with the naked eye, allowing a Peni player to spread them around the map to deal large AOE damage as soon as the enemy arrives. Her Cyber-Web Snare is also a handy ability for pinning a character down, meaning Peni can essentially immobilize the strongest member of the group, or the healer, messing up the entire team’s gameplan.

7

Venom

Venom’s Frenzied Arrival Can Knock Up Anyone Caught In Its Radius

  • Frenzied Arrival: Land on an area, damaging enemies and causing a knock up
  • Cellular Corrosion: Unleash tentacles to slow enemies within reach. Enemies unable to break free will take damage.

Venom may be a little slow on foot, but when airborne, he can deal significant damage to numerous enemies all at once, primarily with his Frenzied Arrival. This ability sees Venom crashing down onto the floor, knocking any enemies who get caught in the blast up into the air, forcing them to disperse as they try to escape from the Symbiote’s clutches.

Marvel Rivals: 8 Counters To Venom

Venom has proven to be a popular member of the Marvel Rivals cast. Here are the heroes and villains who are capable of countering him.

Cellular Corrions is another useful crowd control ability that Venom can use to slow multiple enemies at once, ensuring they can’t coordinate with the rest of their team for at least the next few seconds. Pulling off these abilities does mean the Venom players will need to get dangerously close to the enemy, but he can still easily catch an opposing group by surprise to take multiple people out at once when used effectively.

6

Storm

Storm Has A Few AOE Abilities That Will Slow And Stun Her Foes

  • Goddess Boost: Tornado grants a movement boost and inflicts slow on enemies, while thunder grants a damage boost and summons lightning to inflict damage
  • Bolt Rush: Unleash a lighting bolt forward

When picking Storm from the character select, players might notice the large ring that surrounds them when using certain abilities. This represents Storm’s AOE range, signifying where her abilities can land, and how many enemies will be inflicted by techniques like Goddess Boost, for example.

Goddess Boost can either inflict slow on multiple enemies or will simply shoot down occasional lighting strikes to deal damage, depending on which type of weather the player has activated. Storm’s Bolt Rush can similarly hit multiple enemies, allowing her to deal with big crowds of enemies much more easily than those heroes who are more focused on single targets.

5

Groot

Groot Can Use His Walls To Force An Enemy Group To Disperse

  • Strangling Prison: Fire a massive vine cluster that pulls nearby enemies to its center and imprisons them
  • Thornlash Wall: Summon a wall that will strike nearby enemies
  • Ironwood Wall: When the wall is awakened, damage dealt by Groot and nearby allies grants Groot bonus health

Groot excels at dissecting the opposing team so that his own allies can pick them off one by one, and the way he achieves this is through his walls. Groot’s Thornlash and Ironwood walls can be placed in the middle of the enemy team in order to keep them separated. This can be especially useful for keeping enemy healers as far back as possible, rendering them useless while their Vanguard and Duelists get taken down first.

That’s not all though, as Groot also has a Spore Bomb that will explode and deal damage to a few enemies all in one go, which can similarly prove to be a problem for any opposing healers who don’t have much health. When it comes to crowd control, Groot is undoubtedly one of the most effective heroes in the game thanks to his unique walls which can prevent enemy combatants from working together.

4

Mantis

Mantis Can Instantly Shut Down Enemies With Her Spore Slumber

  • Spore Slumber: Throw a spore to send an enemy to sleep

When it comes to Strategists, Mantis is arguably the best when it comes to crowd control, and it’s all thanks to her Spore Slumber. This ability allows the Guardian of the Galaxy member to root an enemy in place, and since it has a fairly generous cooldown, this can be used to pick apart the enemy team, keeping certain targets locked down for allied Duelists to take care of.

The latest Marvel Rivals update is giving some characters a winter makeover with this new batch of skins.

It’s also worth noting that this ability can be used to disrupt an enemy’s ultimate. Therefore, if Punisher or Scarlet Witch can be heard revving up their ultimate attacks, throw out a Spore Slumber, and it will be deactivated automatically, making her even more of a nightmare for the enemy to deal with.

3

Captain America

Captain America Can Become A Real Problem For The Enemy Team Thanks To His Knockups And Multi-Hit Attacks

  • Super-Soldier Slam: Slam down from the sky onto a targeted area, launching up enemies in the radius
  • Vibranium Energy Saw: Hurl a shield that will strike multiple enemies in its path

Captain America feels like an all-rounder who can be played in many different ways, but if players want to inflict some crowd control, they can certainly do so thanks to his multi-target abilities. His best group-based attack is his Super-Soldier Slam, which is a fast and deadly AOE attack that can be used to reign down chaos from the skies, launching up any enemies who get caught in the blast to score a few easy kills.

Another way to take out multiple enemies at once and cause friction among the enemy team is the Vibranium Energy Saw ability, which sees Cap tossing his shield, allowing it to bounce between anyone within range. Using this ability multiple times can force the enemy team to spread themselves out to avoid being hit, making it harder for them to coordinate their attacks and abilities as a result.

2

Winter Soldier

Winter Soldier Is All About Getting Right Into The Thick Of The Action To Disrupt The Enemy’s Gameplan

  • Trooper’s Fist: Dash forward, seizing enemies along the path and launching them up
  • Tainted Voltage: Throw out an electric punch, dealing damage to enemies within range and slowing them

Winter Soldier has proven to be one of the most popular DPS characters in the game, and a big reason is his ability to focus on both single targets and multiple enemies all at once. Most of his crowd control potential comes from his Tainted voltage, an electric projectile that can travel through multiple enemies and will inflict Slow on everyone who receives damage from the attack.

There’s also his Trooper’s Fist, which is essentially a giant haymaker that will launch anyone it makes contact with high into the air. Needless to say, Winter Soldier can easily cause problems for a group of enemies, forcing them to always watch their backs in fear of being stunned or slowed.

1

Squirrel Girl

A Duelist With A Handy Amount Of Stuns And AOE Attacks

  • Squirrel Blockade: Launch an acorn to unleash Squirrel Guards who will imprison the first enemy they encounter
  • Unbeatable Squirrel Tsunami: Summon a horde of squirrels to charge forward, dealing damage while bouncing against structures

Squirrel Girl’s ability, Squirrel Blockade, can be a little tricky to get used to, but it can work wonders in trying to stun certain enemies to keep them out of the fight. Upon hitting a target, the Squirrel Blockade will imprison an enemy, and if Squirrel Girl therefore lands it on a tank or healer, it can make it much easier for her allies to take down the other members of the enemy team.

Her ultimate attack is always one of the greatest crowd control abilities in the game, allowing Squirrel Girl to summon a horde of squirrels who will scurry around a wide radius, dealing plenty of damage as they go to anyone who is caught up in the chaos.
