EA, under its gaming ecosystem with the EA Sports FC brand, has already brought changes to its existing games while also bringing new titles. While we have EA Sports FC Mobile and EA Sports FC Tactical, EA Sports FC Empires is another title that is now available for you to download and play. There is a tactical side to the game as well, but most of it also revolves around how you progress and upgrade. In this FC Empires beginners guide, I’ll take you through all the game modes available and share some valuable tips and strategies based on my experience with the game.
FC Empires Gameplay Overview and Basics
This game is a strategy title where you upgrade and unlock buildings, unlock them, and upgrade. Well, the name empires doesn’t stop there, you also have the football management simulation where you take on the role of a manager, which becomes crucial for progress as well. So, here you are running a football club with the mechanics of a strategy game.
Your focus here is on managing the squad, tactics, and resources. You are responsible for building a team, setting strategies, and competing in various leagues and tournaments. You’ll manage everything from building facilities like hospitals and training grounds to scouting and signing players for your squad. The complexity isn’t high like the other football simulations, but the other aspects balance it.
Buildings, Resources, and Progression
The main aspect of this is the buildings. Stadium is of the utmost importance, as no other building upgrades go through without upgrading it. For making money, Club Store will be important and as you level it up, you will be able to earn more. Match progress shouldn’t be neglected, since you won’t be able to unlock an area without winning matches.
Coming to resources, there are two major ones which you can spend in this game.
- Cash: The easy-to-earn resource that is used for the unlocking of blocks, basic building upgrades, and unlocking basic boosts.
- Diamonds: Premium currency, can be purchased using money. Used for some upgrades or utilizing the premium features.
Progressing in FC Empires revolves around smart investments in infrastructure, player development, and competing in matches. However, since the game has Chapter-wise progression, you can’t skip any of the quests if you want to move further. Since the chapter has a theme attached to it, say Ch4 is ‘Healing Injuries‘, you know what type of quests you can expect.
Matches come in very important because they open the field of work for you, and unlock facilities and buildings. Facilities like scouting centers, medical units, and merchandising hubs improve your club’s overall performance and revenue. Winning matches boosts your fanbase and club worth, while better facilities unlock opportunities to train elite players and reduce recovery times for injuries.
Scouting, Players, and Squad Building
Coming to the squad building. Well, to be fair, this game doesn’t take emphasis on your skills, rather player OVR plays an important role. Nothing to blame here since this isn’t your typical management game, but still, there are plenty of tactics implemented in FC Empires that you can make use of.
Player Scouting
Starting first, you need to assemble your squad using the Scout Centre building. Honestly, that doesn’t give the best of pulls from my experience. You will make use of Plane Tickets to sign the players, which are of again two types, Scout and Special indicated by color in Blue and Gold respectively. The latter is a premium resource, so can be purchased from the shop which guarantees better players.
You also get five free tries daily, and going by calculations you will be able to pull an Elite Card on or before the 14th day since the game guarantees an Elite card within 70 draws. You’ll unlock player transfers through a pack-opening system reminiscent of Ultimate Team, with the visuals replicating the same.
Upgrading the Scout Centre doesn’t help in increasing the probability of the pulls to be fair, so it is useless to go for the upgrades as soon as you upgrade the stadium. Once you unlock a player, pay attention to their stats, positions, and potential growth.
Squad Building
The next part is to assemble a squad. Accessing the Team menu at the bottom right side of your home screen gives you an overview of your team. You can have a total of 500 players in your squad. There is a coach in your squad who will come with certain proficiencies be it Formation or Tactics.
Although you can preset your formation and tactics and keep it ready, you can change it depending on the opponent you face before the match begins. There are multiple formations and tactics to choose from, which will unlock as you progress in the game.
You can access the list of players in the Players menu. Every player after a match will be getting an XP increase irrespective of the match results, which will help in pushing the stats of an individual to upgrade him further. This can be done in the Talent section, with the use of Talent Points. The player can also unlock traits once he reaches a certain level.
FC Empires Beginners Guide: Tips and Tricks
Here are some tips and tricks you should take note of when starting your journey in FC Empires:
1. Get a second construction worker
Usually, I don’t recommend wasting a premium resource, but to quickly rise the ranks, this tip is very crucial. When you start FC Empires for the first time, you’ll have 200 diamonds. Use 100 of them immediately to buy a second construction worker. This lets you work on two buildings at once, speeding up your progress significantly and you can wrap big upgrades together.
2. Check your Match Preparation
Very important to note here, that match preparation in this game almost accurately predicts the outcome of the match you are going to play. Only play it if the prediction is about you Winning or indicates an Even Match. I tried playing plenty of matches even with a slight OVR difference but the tactical balance seemed to be taken seriously by the game.
3. Claim Daily Rewards
Log in every day, simple as that. The game is kind of generous with daily rewards, including high-rated players like Stones and Foden just for logging in for the first seven days. Given how important the OVR is to beat AI teams, these players are important. Combine that with chapter quests, daily quests, and challenges, and you’ll stack up rewards in no time.
4. Join a Guild
Once you unlock guilds around Stadium 6, join one. Guilds provide tons of rewards through research, assisting teammates, and guild gifts. Plus, coordinated efforts like rallies can boost your progress even further. Joining is easy, take a look at the global chat where you will always have people requesting other players to join or create one and copy the same process.
5. Keep Training your Players
Head to the training pitch and start upgrading your players. Training boosts their stats and overall ratings, and also comes with several aspects say Base, Core, and Expansion. The boosts they gain are really important so try engaging in as many sessions as possible.
Final Thoughts
EA Sports FC Empires brings a fresh twist to football management by combining it with strategy. The game’s progression is fun, although time-consuming like every other strategy game out there, a balance between tactical decisions and club-building is seen so you don’t need to have a lot of tactical knowledge before coming into this game.
Still, if you have doubts about what exactly the game is about, this guide has you covered. Refer to it whenever you need help, and you’ll be well on your way to building a successful club while enjoying everything EA Sports FC Empires has to offer.
