One of the best aspects of Marvel Rivals is not having to worry about getting new heroes, as they’re all completely free from the moment you download the game. Monetization focuses on cosmetic items, such as sprays, poses, and new skins to change your favorite character’s looks and actions.

Marvel Rivals: Best Tank Characters For Overwatch Players
If you were a tank in Overwatch and want to try what’s up in Marvel Rivals, here are some picks that might make you feel at home. At least a bit.
However, NetEase has also been kind enough to include certain skins for free in the game, and you only need to play the game for long enough until you get them. Some can even be obtained outside the game, and are usually quite easy to get if you have the patience.
All Available Free Skins In Marvel Rivals
The game currently has nine skins obtainable for free. They’re mostly time-limited gifts for certain events or seasonal rewards, so you’ll always have a deadline to secure these.
Once they’re gone, other skins will likely replace them in future events or as new prizes for reaching a certain rank during the Seasons.
Iron Man – Armor Model 42
- How To Get: Code redeem
- Available Until: 03/05/25
Another of Iron Man’s various suits is available for all players who use a limited code until March 2025, given out as a release celebration gift to players. You can redeem codes directly through the game, and it takes less than a minute, so don’t miss out on this one.
Magneto – Will Of Galacta
- How To Get: Twitch Drops
- Available Until: 12/31/24
Awarded as the final prize for watching others play Marvel Rivals on Twitch for at least four hours. The streamer must have drops enabled for the whole duration, and you don’t need to watch the same person. This skin gives Magneto the colors of our favorite announcer, Galacta, during battle.
Storm – Ivory Breeze
- How To Get: Heroic Journey Achievements reward
- Available Until: Always available
A permanently available skin for Storm, awarded for completing achievements in the Heroic Journey category. Ivory Breeze is the prize for getting 200 Achievement Points in this particular category.
Heroic Journey focuses on special interactions and easter eggs, such as defeating Spider-Man as Venom or using Monster Hulk’s Ultimate on Loki (a callback to one of the most iconic MCU scenes).
Star-Lord – Jovial Star
- How To Get: Heroic Journey Achievements reward
- Available Until: Always available
Same deal as Storm’s skin, but a bit more challenging. This time, you’ll need 400 Achievement Points to get Jovial Star. The skin is permanently available in the game, though, so take your time as you naturally grind through the game’s various achievements.
Moon Knight – Golden Moonlight
- How To Get: Season 0 Gold Rank or higher reward
- Available Until: 01/10/25
Back to limited-time-only skins, the golden look for Moon Knight is awarded by reaching Gold or a higher rank in Competitive during Season 0, so it can be a long grind if starting from Bronze.
Competitive is available after level 10. Manage to reach higher ranks. You’ll also get some other extra cosmetics, so the more you climb, the more you can show off later.
Hela – Empress Of The Cosmos
- How To Get: Season 0 Battle Pass reward
- Available Until: 01/10/25
Another free skin in Season 0 is none other than Hela’s, and you can get it on the third Battle Pass page. To unlock it, you need to earn at least 2400 Chrono Tokens in total and then spend 400 to get the skin itself.
Daily Missions give the most consistent experience, so playing a few matches every day is the simplest way to get the skin.
If you purchase the Season 0 Battle Pass but can’t complete it in time, you’ll still be able to get Hela’s skin later with Tokens.
Jeff The Land Shark – Cuddly Fuzzlefin
- How To Get: Winter Celebration Event
- Available Until: 01/09/25
Christmas came early in Marvel Rivals, giving Jeff a new wintery look and a temporary Splatoon-like game mode made just for him. Playing this event and completing its missions gives you various rewards, including the skin Jeff uses in it. A Christmas miracle indeed.
Spider-Man – Scarlet Spider
- How To Get: PlayStation Store
- Available Until: Always Available
Playstation 5 players have access to an exclusive skin for the Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man. The Scarlet Spider skin is available on the Playstation Store for free, and you can use it as soon as you claim its pack.
This skin is unavailable for players on any other platform. There’s no crossplay progression in Marvel Rivals, so you cannot use it if you’re not on a PS5 either.
Peni Parker – VEN#M
- How To Get: Playstation Plus Essentials Bonus
- Available Until: 01/10/25
PlayStation Plus subscribers also have access to another special pack for the game featuring Peni Parker’s VEN#M skin. The pack comes with other bonuses, such as MVP poses and sprays with the same theme. Once again, the pack is exclusive to PS5 players.
The VEN#M skin is available on the game store, but you can only get it for free on PS5.
All Unavailable Free Skins In Marvel Rivals
Previously given out for free, these skins are no longer obtainable in-game. They’ll likely not be introduced to the store either, as they’re meant to be special rewards for older players. Everybody loves some legacy content, after all.
Scarlet Witch – Moonlit Witch
- How To Get: Participate in the Closed Alpha testing period
If you were one of the lucky players who got to test the game before its release, your playtime was rewarded with an exclusive skin for Scarlet Witch. A simple change of colors, but enough to classify you as a veteran.
Venom – Cyan Clash
- How to Get: Participate in the Closed Beta testing period
Similar to Wanda’s skin, the Beta tests awarded players a new look for Venom, which is now unavailable to others. It gives Venom a color scheme that is more akin to his appearance in the Marvel vs Capcom series, making it a bit more special.
