Warning: The following contains spoilers for Dragon Ball DAIMA Episode 11, “Legend”, now streaming on Crunchyroll.
Summary
- Neva, the creator of Demon Realm Dragon Balls and Tamagami, joins the group as a Namekian ally.
- Majin Kuu’s failure leads to the birth of Majin Duu, a powerful and unpredictable fighter.
- Vegeta faces Tamagami Number Two, but a monstrous kraken interrupts the battle in Dragon Ball DAIMA.
Dragon Ball DAIMA took a Demon Realm detour and finally brought the group back together, but their Namekian walk down memory lane wasn’t quite complete. While the previous episode seemed to cast a dark cloud over Earth’s heroes, one mysterious villain may turn out to be an invaluable ally. As the Saiyans and company work on charting a course for Tamagami Number Two, Dr. Arinsu finds herself forced to regroup with Marba. After Majin Kuu’s failure, Dr. Arinsu has one last chance to secure a fighter that will turn the tide in Dragon Ball DAIMA.
The usage of Majin Buu’s essence to create Majin Kuu looked like it had been a massive success, but Tamagami Number One proved far too powerful for Kuu to handle. After spending most of the last episode trying to prove his skills, Majin Kuu took the loss and retreated with Dr. Arinsu. Some hiccups with a few groups of thieves and one enormous kraken have slowed things down for the Z fighters, but they finally reunited on the original Namekian home planet in the Second Demon World. Supreme Kai tried to help fill in some gaps by enlightening the group about Demon Realm history, but they’re still only one-third of the way to making a wish that could save Dende and return them all to their adult bodies.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Welcomes An Unlikely Ally as Majin Duu is Born
When Dragon Ball DAIMA began, Supreme Demon King Gomah sought help from the ancient Namek known as Neva to secure and use the Earth’s Dragon Balls. Seemingly the last Namek left in the Demon Realm, Neva reappears before the group can leave what’s left of the Namekian home planet. Only Dende and Mr. Popo were present when Neva arrived at The Lookout, but Piccolo quickly realizes who has approached them. Neva is surprised to see a “Warrior Namek” that reminds him of Katatz, and Piccolo quickly clarifies that Katatz was his father.
To be more specific, Katatz’s son was the Nameless Namekian that once split into King Piccolo and Kami. This would technically make him Piccolo Jr.’s grandfather, but Piccolo Jr. merging with Kami complicated their family tree a bit.
Neva seemed to be a villain when he first emerged, but this interaction in Episode 11, “Legend”, instead positions him more like a neutral figure. Neva created the Demon Realm Dragon Balls and even the powerful Tamagami that defend them. Panzy asks why Neva hasn’t just overthrown Supreme Demon King Gomah himself, but Neva says “Nameks must not use their power for conflict.” This drew some hilarious side-eye as everyone not-so-subtly glanced at Piccolo, but Glorio pointed out they should get back in the air since the Gendarmerie are still searching for them.
A sudden request to join the group by Neva is initially turned down since their ship is growing crowded, but he reveals that any wish made with the Demon Realm Dragon Balls will need to be made in Namekian. With their unexpected ally being the only one around who can still speak Namekian, he climbs aboard as the ship heads towards their second Tamagami battle in Dragon Ball DAIMA.
Nameks must not use their power for conflict.
Since Majin Kuu came up short against Tamagami Number One, Dr. Arinsu returns to Marba and insists they go all in on one last attempt. After only using a small part of Majin Buu’s essence to create Kuu, Dr. Arinsu decides they should use all of the remaining essence and bury the final Saibaman seed much deeper. Despite Marba’s warnings this could fail or make a creature that’s harder to control, Majin Duu is born. Much more akin to the pudgy stature of Majin Buu, Duu even quickly exhibits Buu’s same obsession with chocolate. When Duu’s battle with Tamagami Number One begins, it quickly becomes clear that he possesses not only the power but the unpredictability that made Buu such a terrifying opponent.
Back in the Second Demon World, Vegeta predictably demands he be the one to challenge Tamagami Number Two. The protector initially rebuffs Vegeta due to his childlike appearance, but he realizes the seriousness of this moment after catching a glimpse of his creator Neva watching along with the rest of their group. Vegeta held his own as the battle began, but the monstrous kraken reappeared and swallowed Vegeta whole in the final moments of Episode 11. The after credits preview of Episode 12, “True Strength”, provides fans with a few more glimpses of Tamagami Number One vs. Majin Duu and Tamagami Number Two vs. Vegeta as these two battles heat up in Dragon Ball DAIMA.
