Bungie provides Destiny 2 players with an update to the Bake-Off Community Challenge during the Dawning, revealing a massive number of cookies that Commander Zavala has already eaten. This latest community challenge is new for The Dawning this year, pushing Destiny 2 players to continue engaging with the event while fans wait for Act 3 to drop for Episode Revenant.
The Dawning in Destiny 2 is the game’s holiday event, typically arriving in December and running through the New Year while Bungie employees are off on winter break. This year’s rendition is largely the same as it has been in the past, tasking players with collecting ingredients and baking cookies for the various NPCs throughout the Destiny 2 universe. In return, players earn currency, items, weapons, and more. However, The Dawning 2024 does come with a unique challenge for players.

What to Expect From Destiny 2 in 2025
Destiny 2’s 2025 plans include a new expansion model, changes to gameplay, overhauling various systems, and a new direction for the game’s narrative.
Prior to the start of The Dawning, Bungie announced a new Destiny 2 Community Challenge, tasking players with baking specific treats for NPCs during each of the three weeks in order to unlock special rare emblems. Known as Confectionary Commander, Epicurean Extraordinaire, and Handcrafter Hunter, the three emblems feature the trio of Vanguard characters with unique colors and patterns. The more goals the community overcomes, the easier it will be to unlock these emblems from opening A Gift In Return.
The first week, which is now over, helped unlock the Confectionary Commander emblem and Bungie has revealed just how many cookies the Destiny 2 NPC Commander Zavala had to eat as the community worked together. As it turns out, players have handed well over 3 million Gjallardoodles to the Vanguard Commander. For the next few days, players will need to bake treats for Ikora, Eva Levante, and The Drifter to help unlock the Epicurean Extraordinaire emblem.
While the community smashed the goals for Week 1, they’ll have to wait a bit longer to see if the goal was met for round two. Destiny 2 has entered a troublesome phase of its life as players continue to drop off the game for a variety of reasons, as many have seen the population on Steam plummet as of late. The drop has been attributed to a few different reasons, whether due to overall bordom, the downtime between acts, or the fact that Episode Revenant has seen a ton of bugs and issues. Either way, Bungie may have a bigger problem on its hands for the future of the game.
