Madhouse has not divulged too many details regarding the second season, but it is possible that the next season will be shorter than the first. Frieren – Beyond Journey’s End season one was split into two cours, and they had 28 episodes in total, which covered 60 chapters. As the manga is going on an indefinite break, the anime wouldn’t want to get too close to the manga. Madhouse can also make season two just as long, as there are still over 70 chapters.
