Now the animated show is over, you’re probably thinking about the game that inspired it.
Shortly after Arcane ended a few months ago, some fans questioned why more seasons weren’t made, which led Riot Games co-founder Marc Merrill to basically confirm that other stories in the same universe are going to be told. Since then we’ve not heard much about what the future has in store for Arcane, but a recent interview suggests there’s plenty being considered.
More Series Based On League Of Legends Are Being “Aggressively” Pursued
A few days ago, The Direct had the chance to talk to Arcane’s showrunner and co-creator Christian Linke about the series and all of the rumoured spin-offs that are in the works. When asked about what’s happening with these projects, Linke was surprisingly open about it and gave a big update.
According to Linke, the team has a number of products that have been born out of Arcane and they’re in the process of developing the ideas and figuring out what comes next. Although nothing that’s being considered right now is in “full production” yet, Linke does admit that they’re “aggressively” developing a few in particular.
We definitely have a number of products that kind of are born out of Arcane. We are in the process where we’re just developing. Nothing is in full production yet, but we’re pretty aggressively developing a few of them in particular that we’re just excited about. We want to tell more stories.
Before anyone hoping to see more of Jinx gets too excited, it’s worth noting that Linke also clarified that not everything that’s being considered is a direct continuation of Arcane. Some of the things being developed will feature completely new characters based on the IP, while a few do have direct links to Arcane.
It’s a positive update for fans of the show, but with nothing fully in the works yet and ideas just being floated and pursued, it seems like it’s going to be a long wait. Still, considering how big a success Arcane was, it’s worth letting the team cook for as long as it needs.
