Fortnite Winterfest 2024 is here! It’s a huge new event with a lot to discover. However, some of the old favorites that you’d expect for Winterfest haven’t exactly been dominating gameplay. What exactly has changed?
It’s been a bit of a weird update. There’s a Mariah Carey mini-event going on, but it’s been the source of more misinformation than anything else. The map has changed, but that particular part of the Fortnite update dropped early. However, there are still some surprises in Fortnite Winterfest 2024. This is what’s changed:

Winter Cabin Returns
One much loved part of Winterfest that’s been away lately has been the Winterfest Cabin, it was absent from last year’s celebration. However, for Winterfest 2024 it’s back! Players can go into the cabin physically to redeem all of their free presents. There’s a new one every day, so tons of fun free Fortnite skins if you’re looking every day.
You can get into the cabin by clicking on the snowflake in the lobby. It’s available through January 7th, so you’ve got plenty of time to get things unwrapped.
Winterfest Map Changes
The big change to the Fortnite Chapter 6 map so far has been snow taking over a good portion of it. This is all for the holidays this year. There’s also a Mariah Carry mini-event in the center in a block of ice. She gives you a Holiday present though, not a free emote like was rumoured.
New Items for Winterfest 2024
Winterfest does mean some changes are coming to the actual game. There have been a few alterations to the loot pool with more minor additions. We’ve got the icey feet added, this year as a useable item. You can turn it on to get icey feet and remove them. You can now use icey feet over water too, just only if it’s shallow enough.
The other item is the icey grenade, which gives people icey feet as well. But this time, not by choice!
New Quests
If you’re still grinding to rise up the battle Pass, these new quests or Winterfest 2024 will be a big help. You can complete a good number of them to gain extra XP, which is great if you don’t like grinding Fortnite XP maps.
New Christmas Skins
As always, it wouldn’t be a Fortnite Winterfest without new skins. These new collabs like Mariah Carrey, and Christmas versions of other skins here. There’s even a Christmas version of Shaq, for some reason.
