What to Expect From Indiana Jones and The Great Circle in 2025

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle recently released on PC and Xbox consoles, with the latest adventure of Dr. Jones taking him across the globe to battle Nazis and investigate the mystery of the titular Great Circle. The adventure explores several religious and historical mysteries in ways that only Indy can, and it’s very clear that MachineGames understands who Indiana Jones is. Releasing at the end of the year, of course, means that there are bright things on the horizon come 2025.

It is a single-player game, so fans should manage all expectations with this in mind. Indiana Jones and The Great Circle will no doubt receive support in the future, and its next major updates are already known. Beyond that, fans probably need to be prepared for Indy to hang his hat up sooner rather than later, but perhaps not forever. Hopefully, MachineGames continues to develop Indiana Jones games, and it’d be interesting to see how MachineGames develops upon its current formula.

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle Will Have a Busy Early 2025

As aforementioned, Indiana Jones is a single-player game. In an industry filled with live-service games and microtransactions, where the most popular games every year are “forever games,” it bears repeating that, once players finish Indy, they will likely move on–as is normal. For those who jump in later or are waiting for another opportunity to jump in, there’s plenty coming.

Game Updates and PS5 Release Date

The most obvious and safest expectation is standard updates. MachineGames will no doubt be ironing out issues, improving the game, and issuing updates at least a few months into the new year. But beyond the standard are two major things: the PS5 release date and the Order of Giants DLC.

MachineGames has confirmed that Indiana Jones and The Great Circle will come to PS5 in Spring 2025. For those waiting to hop into it on their preferred platform, it stands to reason that MachineGames and Bethesda will confirm a release date earlier in the year. Until then, fans may just need to wait and see.

The Order of Giants DLC

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle does have one DLC listed for post-launch: The Order of Giants. However, MachineGames has not said too much about it yet. For Game Rant Advance, we did ask MachineGames if there was anything they would share about the DLC, with lead narrative designer Tommy Tordsson Björk telling us,

The only thing I can say there is that we will explore some of the myths that you learn about in the Vatican and find out more about the hidden history of Rome. It’s going to be an exciting adventure worthy of Indy!

Therefore, eagled-eye fans may want to double check everything they find in the Vatican. Some fans believe that this DLC will delve into the Nephilim Order that is introduced in Indiana Jones and The Great Circle but not explored in depth. If so, it will definitely be an exciting adventure, but fans should expect some curveballs as well.

The Rumored Xbox Showcase

The biggest question right now is when fans will learn the PS5 and Order of Giants release dates. While nothing is confirmed, rumors suggest that Xbox is hosting a major Direct event in January. It has hosted events in January 2023 and January 2024, but as it stands, 2025 could be Xbox’s biggest year yet. With games like Avowed, South of Midnight, Doom: The Dark Ages, Towerborne, Fable, and The Outer Worlds 2 currently slated for next year, it has a lot to show off. It’s possible some games are delayed or shuffled around, but if there is a major Xbox event, it will make the most sense to show off Indy’s future there. It could even feature more significant reveals than this, but the best expectation right now is just its PS5 release and DLC.

What Lies Beyond The Great Circle

Depending on what is shown off for Indy at the start of the new year, if anything, it might be possible to shift expectations. A second DLC might not be impossible for Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, but it might be that MachineGames only wants to do this one DLC. Either way, fans should keep their expectations focused on the PS5 release and the DLC, and if it expands beyond that, let it be a nice surprise.

MachineGames, of course, has never been one to rest on its laurels. The Indiana Jones and The Great Circle studio is reportedly working on multiple unannounced projects, beyond its latest title. One of these could, in theory, be the DLC, and it’s ultimately unclear what these projects are exactly. However, Indiana Jones and The Great Circle was a great step forward for MachineGames, Bethesda, and Xbox, and it’ll be awesome to see what comes from MachineGames over the next couple of years.
