***criticized TGA for its downplaying of layoffs and its blatant favoritism for ads and trailers over devs***
1. It’s literally a commercial event. Advertising is its goal.
2. Why does the TGA have to speak out for developers? Why is that their job? They’re not journalists, they’re there to promote new games. It’s advertising.
3. Did you miss the part where they gave an award to a guy who has been helping people who have lost jobs and allowed him to speak about jobs lost in the industry during the show and not hidden away in the pre-show stuff?
Not everything needs to have a voice to defend what you want them to do. They are their own people. It doesn’t mean they aren’t concerned about it, but their job is to promote games that are coming and hand out awards for the games that were made. Anyone up on that stage could talk about the loss of jobs in the industry during their speech, but it’s TGA’s fault they aren’t?
