With ConcernedApe hard at work developing Haunted Chocolatier, players have continued to explore Stardew Valley in the meantime. The indie developer recently released update 1.6.15, a continuation of the 1.6 update that has expanded Stardew Valley immensely. Though this update primarily featured quality-of-life changes, previous updates in Stardew Valley have included one feature that Haunted Chocolatier will likely implement as well.
If Haunted Chocolatier features the same whimsy as Stardew Valley, the game’s various Easter eggs and hidden mechanics should be one such feature that Haunted Chocolatier borrows. Not only are Easter eggs a fan-favorite feature, but they also add depth and world-building to games.

Stardew Valley is notorious for its multitude of Easter eggs. With ConcernedApe adding new Easter eggs in Stardew Valley updates, the number of Easter eggs in the game increases all the time, making the search even more exciting for players.
Easter eggs in Stardew Valley range from the small and cute to the complex and game-changing. Smaller Easter eggs in the game include hidden messages in the game’s title screen. Clicking the letter “E” on the Stardew Valley title screen ten times will reveal an alien opening a door behind the letter. The stereotypically designed extra-terrestrial waves at players for two seconds before fading away.
Hidden Game Mechanics
Bigger Easter eggs in the game include full-on mini-games that players must dissect and unlock. For example, after finding and donating all four Dwarf Scrolls to the Museum, players receive the Dwarvish Translation Guide. In the Graveyard, a previously unreadable tombstone becomes uncovered, revealing a guide to finding the Galaxy Sword.
The Locked Boxes Easter egg is similar to this Galaxy Sword hidden feature. Players can decode the Museum’s Lost Book by looking at the book’s first letters to reveal a sequence of items and locations, including “SUPER CUCUMBER TOWN”, “DUCK MAYO SALOON”, and “STRANGE BUN TOY BOX.” Players earn a secret statue after placing these items into the respective locked boxes at their corresponding locations.
One of the most recent Easter eggs in Stardew Valley unlocks a whole new form of gameplay for mobile players. As part of Stardew Valley‘s update 1.6.9, ConcernedApe has finally added a mobile multiplayer mode. In order to access this mode, mobile players must input the iconic Konami code using the leaves on Stardew Valley’s title screen. Upon completing the code, players should hit the “?” button. After exiting the “?” menu, a co-op button will appear on the title screen where players can either “Host” or “Join” a game.
Haunted Chocolatier Needs to Continue Easter Eggs
These are just a few hidden game mechanics and Easter eggs that show ConcernedApe’s attention to detail when it comes to their titles. Undoubtedly these features should continue in Haunted Chocolatier.
It would be unsurprising for Stardew Valley players to test out Haunted Chocolatier for themselves upon release. The premise of running a confectionery store while interacting with town locals and ghosts, even pursuing romantic relationships, is similar enough to Stardew Valley to draw in the game’s playerbase while featuring a distinct enough switch to distinguish the two games.
With Easter eggs remaining such an iconic part of Stardew Valley, players are likely to expect a few Easter eggs and hidden game mechanics to make their way into Haunted Chocolatier as well. Additionally, because both games are by ConcernedApe, Stardew Valley and Haunted Chocolatier have an opportunity to reference each other. It’s clear that Easter eggs are essential to Haunted Chocolatier and could bring in even more players to its future base.
