Splatoon 3 has announced that its winter-themed Frosty Fest seasonal Splatfest event will be coming back next year, with the event starting on January 11. The rerun of Splatoon 3‘s Frosty Fest event will also have some free rewards, including ones for fans who missed playing the seasonal Splatfest the first time. This is the second returning seasonal Splatfest theme, following Splatoween from earlier this October.
Splatoon 3‘s Grand Festival marked the end of an era, with Nintendo’s family-friendly third-person shooter no longer receiving regular updates. The game is still getting its fair share of weapon adjustment updates and seasonal events, with Frosty Fest being one of them. The Seasonal Splatfest usually changes the game’s hub world to reflect the season, with Frosty Fest appropriately making everything winter-themed, such as snow covering the buildings and floats decorating Splatsville. The first Frosty Fest of Splatoon 3 took place in the middle of January 2024, and 2025’s event also takes place during the same period of time.

Splatoon 4 Needs to Break a Pattern of the Franchise’s Post-Launch Life
Splatoon 4 seems more and more plausible as Nintendo teases its next console, and if it appears, it needs to reassess a big part of Splatoon.
The official Splatoon Twitter account announced the theme of 2025’s Frosty Fest, which will be taking place between January 11-13, 2025. Unlike 2024’s Frosty Fest, which asked the player who they’d spend the holidays with (options being Friends, Family, or Solo), 2025’s theme is about what makes the player the happiest. Since the Frosty Fest is Holiday/New Year-themed, the player can choose between whether money, experiences, or presents make them happy. Shiver represents money, Fyre represents Experiences, and Big Man represents Presents.
When is Splatoon 3’s Frosty Fest 2025?
To celebrate the return of Frosty Fest, fans can get some free cosmetics via the Splatoon Switch News channel. This will give fans seasonal headgear from Splatoon 2 to wear, including the Festive Party Cone, New Year’s Glasses DX, Twisty Headband, and an Eel-Cake Hat. This is the first time fans can get these Splatoon 3 headgear items if they missed the original Frosty Fest from earlier this year.
While Splatoon 3 is wrapping up most of its post-launch support, the Switch successor is just over the horizon, though no launch date has been announced yet. With a new Switch console soon, most fans speculate that Splatoon 4 is already in development, since the Grand Festival event wrapped up earlier this year and likely will determine the direction of the sequel. For the time being, fans can keep coming back to Splatoon 3 in order to catch up on various seasonal Splatfests they might have missed.
