Shanks has been one of the most mysterious characters in One Piece and the one that fans have been wanting to know more about ever since the very beginning. Of course, given the importance of Shanks, fans were never going to see him in the early phases of One Piece, but now, the story is in the Final Saga, which is why most fans expect to see him get involved in a major way in this particular part of the story.

A lot of details about Shanks are finally going to be revealed here, including his family. Curiously enough, Oda might have revealed a massive detail about Shanks’s family long ago in the story, and only now, in One Piece chapter 1134, this detail has officially been elaborated upon and, in a way, confirmed.

Shanks’s Lineage In One Piece

At the beginning of One Piece, fans weren’t exactly sure what Shanks’s lineage was. A lot of the fans first believe that Shanks would be somehow related to Luffy. Of course, as One Piece continued, this was revealed to not be true at all. Shanks was revealed to be his own character and fans found out a great deal about him with the story moving forward. Around the time of the Water Seven saga, it was revealed that Shanks was one of the Four Emperors of the Sea. Fans also got to see glimpses of Shanks here and there, specifically around the time of the Paramount War, and later down the line, even more exciting phases of the story, such as the conclusion of the Wano Country arc. But, it wasn’t until the Final Saga that Shanks started appearing in the story more than ever before, and it is safe to say that things looked incredibly exciting pertaining to this character.

Furthermore, One Piece Film Red, which came out recently, also elaborated upon Shanks in great detail. Although Shanks’s adoptive daughter, Uta, was the central character, fans still found out a great deal about the Red-haired Emperor as well. It was confirmed by the Five Elders that Shanks belonged to the Figarland family, which is a royal family and a Celestial Dragon group. In fact, later, in the main manga, fans found out that Saint Garling Figarland is a major character who is connected to Shanks in a huge way. In God Valley, Garling was present and a proper connection between him and Shanks was made, as these two looked identical, with the only difference being the hairstyle.

Undoubtedly, Garling is Shanks’s dad, but, what’s even more interesting is the fact that Garling has more children than just Shanks. This was also implied in Kuma’s flashback, although the other siblings have hardly made an appearance in One Piece so far.

The First Appearance Of The Shanks Look Alike

With it having been established that Shanks has a sibling somewhere in the One Piece world, fans knew that sooner rather than later, this character would make a major appearance. Oda continued to tease the presence of this character, such as when the God’s Knights were teased by Dragon, and the leader of the group looked remarkably like Shanks in terms of silhouette. Similarly, in One Piece chapter 1121, during Vegapunk’s speech, yet another silhouette was shown to the fans, and once again, it looked identical to the other Shanks. Clearly, Oda was hinting at this character being somehow connected to Shanks and fans were desperately waiting to see who it was truly going to be.

Interestingly enough, the Final Saga wasn’t the first time that fans got a proper glimpse of this character who looks just like Shanks. One Piece chapter 907 is where this character appeared first.

Back then, fans got to see a character that looked just like Shanks covered in a cape, and he entered the Room of Authority in Pangea Castle inside Marijoa to hold a meeting with the Five Elders. Of course, back then, fans had assumed this character to be Shanks. However, now, looking at things, it is almost impossible for this character to be the Red-haired Emperor. With Shanks’s look-alike having been hinted at in the story on many occasions, it now makes more sense to assume that this character wasn’t Shanks but his twin brother.

Finally, in One Piece chapter 1134, fans got a proper look at Shanks’s twin. This character appeared through a giant summoning circle on Elbaf, and once again, was seen wearing a robe all over him. The appearance of the character is similar to the one who showed up in One Piece chapter 907, and that essentially goes on to confirm that he isn’t Shanks but his brother. It appears that this character will be serving the role of an antagonist in the Elbaf Arc, and fans cannot wait to see what Oda has in store for the fans in regards to this character.

Who Is Shank’s Brother?

So far, very few details have been revealed by Oda about Shanks’s brother. Fans do not know much information and the only thing that they know is that Shanks and he look identical. This implies that they are also the same age. Furthermore, fans know that while Shanks was separated from the Figarland Family, this character stayed true to this clan. He is one of the Celestial Dragons and holds a very high ranking within the World Government. He is likely a member of the Holy Knights, possibly being its new Supreme Commander following the promotion of Saint Garling to Five Elders.

As for what relationship this individual holds to Shanks, fans do not know. But, it is highly likely that they are not on good terms with one another. When taking everything into consideration that fans know about this character, it now makes sense that the pirate who he wanted to talk about in One Piece chapter 907 is none other than Shanks himself. Perhaps, he started noticing Shanks making erratic movements for the first time, which is why he reported it to the Five Elders.

Fans are eagerly waiting to see what road Oda takes with Shanks’s twin, and how his interactions with Shanks are going to pan out in the grand scheme of things. The Elbaf arc is only just getting started and fans absolutely cannot wait to see the future developments in regards to Shanks, his twin brother, and the other member of the Holy Knights who was introduced to the readers in One Piece chapter 1134, alongside this red-haired individual.
