The Mantis Claw allows you to latch onto surrounding walls to make your way up any narrow opening where two opposing walls can be used for a quick ascension. Here’s how to get the Mantis Claw in Hollow Knight.
How To Get the Mantis Claw
To get the Mantis Claw, you’ll first need to have gained access to the Fungal Wastes, as it’s through this area that the Mantis Village can ultimately be reached. The Fungal Wastes area can be accessed through the Forgotten Crossroads part of the map, and once you get there, you should find the Queen’s Station and pay the toll to unlock the Stag Beetle fast travel site for the area.
Once you’ve unlocked the Stag station and rested on the bench, you must leave the station, climb to the top of the room, and then go through the entrance on the right. Then, avoid the poison-blowing balloon enemy and start dropping down through the various openings in the floor. Keep dropping down until you see a bench sign pointing downwards. Be careful, as there are flying enemies and mantis waiting to strike at you and end your run before you can reach the bench. Once you’ve descended far enough while following the signs, sit on the bench to save your progress and ensure you won’t be starting from scratch if you die.
After saving your progress, go back up, but don’t leave the area. Find one flying enemy and one mantis as you make your way up. When you do, either fight them or dodge their attacks and go to the entrance on the left.
This entrance will lead you to the first part of the Mantis Village. Start going left while being careful not to fall into the pools of acid or succumb to the mantis enemies in the area. Keep going left until you reach a big lever that you’ll have to hit to unlock the passageway to the Mantis Claw.
After hitting this lever, go to the area directly above it, and you’ll see a bright white dot shining in an adjacent room. That’s the Mantis Claw. Simply make your way through the area until you reach the bright white dot. Then, you’ll have successfully obtained the Mantis claw, which you actually need to leave the area, even if you don’t wish to face the Mantis Lords.

What Can The Mantis Claw Be Used For?
Besides being required to leave the Mantis Village, the Mantis Claw is also necessary to acquire the Crystal Heart ability, which, in turn, is necessary to obtain the Monarch Wings, which allow players to perform a double jump.
