Hades 2 has followed the footsteps of its predecessor by showing how far the roguelike genre can be taken. Because of how well it was received and its significant growth and improvement while still being in early access, Supergiant Games can be seen as one of the best indie developers of all time. The developer has proven that it can produce quality titles, and with its recent creation being a success, perhaps it is time for it to start looking towards working on other things from its past.
The success of Hades shows that Supergiant Games understands what its fans are looking for in a good game, and that’s made even more clear with the sequel. While it shows the developer has understood the formula necessary to create an exceptional follow-up title, it can be seen as odd why it has yet to do so for its other works. Supergiant Games had some amazing titles before Hades 2 and its predecessor, and while there’s no clear reason why the developer has yet to make sequels for them, having it happen could guarantee even more success.

Previous Works From Supergiant Games That Could Have a Sequel
As one indie developer that has rarely let fans down, Supergiant Games releasing any follow-up title will likely have many supporters anticipating what it could be. If the developer chooses to do so, then it won’t have much of a selection to choose from, as there are only a few available candidates:
- Transistor has the potential to have an interesting sequel, as the futuristic setting could allow Supergiant Games to get creative on what content it should have
- The unique party-focused gameplay and deeper narrative of Pyre would do well to have a sequel, as the developer could help give it a better multiplayer experience and create an even better story
- The top-down action-roleplaying shooter gameplay of Bastion, arguably one of Supergiant Games’ more recognizable works aside from Hades and its sequel, can be seen as a title that is long overdue for a follow-up
Why Supergiant Games Should Highly Consider Making Sequels to Its Previous Works
Because of Hades 2 and its predecessor, one could mistake Supergiant Games for always being an indie developer who can dole out AAA budgets and titles. That is not the case, as it had humble beginnings like most others, with its members even paying out of their own pockets to fund projects. Because of this, there may be those unaware of the developer’s previous works, as the Hades games have taken most of the spotlight.
The success of Hades 2 can mean a lot of things for Supergiant Games, one of which is the developer creating sequels for its other games, especially now that it’s broken its tradition of only creating new IPs. There’s no telling if it will happen, but if it does, some titles could finally be given that chance to step out of the shadows and show fans the other things a talented indie developer is capable of aside from its most popular work.
