Baldur’s Gate 3: 16 Best Feats for Druids, Ranked

Some feats in Baldur’s Gate 3 are better suited for Druids than others. Here’s which ones are the perfect choice for nature’s guardians.

An overpowered build for a class in a role-playing game is always fun to play and customize, but what exactly makes a character “overpowered” might be a matter of opinion. So far, players have already invented several deadly combinations of race, feat, gear, and weapons to make an overpowered build in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Updated December 21st, 2024 by Kristy Ambrose: Baldur’s Gate 3 is still one of the world’s most popular games, and its success will go down in entertainment history. Considering how much detail the writers and developers have added to classes, dialogue, and character interaction, the adventure is always different depending on the character that players build. Any of the following BG3 builds can be further changed or augmented using multi-classing, which can allow players to experiment even further.

1

Battle Master Fighter

second wind fighter ability bg3
  • A drawback of any Fighter build is that it doesn’t have any healing or spellcasting powers, except the Eldritch Fighter subclass. However, every build using this class has the benefit of Action Surge, which provides the character with a crucial extra Action during combat. Additionally, Second Wind draws on the Constitution score to restore hit points.

The Battle Master focuses on melee fighting. In addition to some ridiculous bonuses in that category, players can pad them with gear, Background, and Feat choices.

  • Race: The Zariel Tiefling is always a nice start to a melee build, with racial abilities like Searing Smith and Branding Smite. Other decent choices include Orcs, with abilities like Savage Attacks and Relentless Endurance. Humans also have the benefit of the Civil Militia.
  • Feats: Alert, so the character can get the first attack. Any Feat that gives a reaction when it comes to countering enemy attacks is also helpful. These include Mage Slayer and Sentinel. Savage Attacker and Resilient are also ideal for anyone in melee range and ideal for the Battlemaster build.
  • Gear: There is some exceptional heavy armor in the game, and this mostly-melee Fighter build can take advantage of it. The
    Adamantine Splint Armour

is an early example. Any variety of broadsword is also a good bet, so it’s worth getting Zhalk’s
    Everburn Blade

    from the Nautiloid.

2

Fiery Sorcerer

The Classic Overpowered Character

BG3 Best Sorcerer Spells Fireball
  • Combine innate spellcasting with a large selection of Fire-based spells with this overpowered build

There are several spellcasting classes in BG3, and the Sorcerer has the best casting abilities when it comes to the spell slots they have available. Making them a Fire-based caster gives them more choices for spells, and the result is an overpowered caster with a talent for blazing destruction.

  • Race:High Elves and half-High Elves have access to the Firebolt cantrip, and the Charisma boost is also helpful. Choose a Mephistopheles Tiefling to get access to spells like Burning Hands and Flame Blade.
  • Feats: Elemental Adept is obvious, and the natural choice is fire. Resilient is also a good choice, with a boost to either Charisma or Dexterity. Sentinel ensures this Sorcerer will never be Surprised and will often get the opportunity to take the first turn in battle.
  • Gear: The
    Elven Chain

is always great for a character with a low or non-existent AC, and
    Creation’s Echo

is a Quarterstaff that makes the wielder immune to the damage type of their choice.

3

The Beastmaster Ranger

A Savage Companion

Minsc and Boo from Dungeons & Dragons. Woe, hamster be upon ye.
  • When playing the game, fans can choose any Ranger subclass for Minsc that they want, but considering he’s always in the company of his animal companion, it makes sense that he would be a Beastmaster.

Every Ranger build has some options for animal companions, but this is the one that makes the concept central to their skills and abilities.

  • Race: This versatile class can be virtually any race, but any type of Elf (including Drow) and Humans are ideal because of the melee and ranged weapon skills they have. Dwarves are also a good choice because of the poison and magic resistance along with the Constitution buff.
  • Feats: Alert gives a +5 bonus to Initiative and ensures that neither the Ranger nor his minions can be Surprised. Sentinel gives the Ranger Opportunity Attacks against enemies that target their allies within melee range. Equip the Ranger with a long-ranged melee weapon, like a spear or polearm, to make this Feat even more effective.
  • Gear: The
    Armour of Landfall

is an ideal choice but it doesn’t turn up until Sorcerer’s Sundries in Act 3. Until then, look for anything that buffs the Ranger’s Constitution or Wisdom.

4

The Tempest Cleric

Become Holy Thor

Baldur's Gate 3 Tempest Cleric split image three characters stand together and one character looks back over shoulder
  • All the most potent benefits of the Cleric, such as Guiding Bolt and Spirit Guardians, combined with the might of the Tempest, which includes ridiculous AoE spells like Shatter and Ice Storm.

This class can be an overpowered elemental nightmare at melee or distance range, and the race and feats haven’t even been chosen yet.

  • Race: Any Half-Elf race has access to cantrips like Darkness, Faerie Fire, or Fire Bolt, all handy spells depending on the build, and High Elves can choose from a selection taken from the Wizard class. For those who want a more melee-based Holy Thor build, the Zariel Tiefling is the best choice. Searing Smith and Branding Smite are powerful racial abilities, and Thaumaturgy is handy for certain dice rolls.
  • Feats: Elemental Adept is perfect for those who want even more boom and bust for their lightning and thunder spells. War Caster, which includes the spell Shocking Grasp, is another good choice.
  • Gear: The Blood of Lathander grants the use of Sunbeam, and Ketheric’s Warhammer does psychic as well as bludgeoning damage. Several maces and hammers in the game work well with this build and remember that a smaller hammer can be combined with a shield for extra AC and bludgeoning damage.

5

Circle Of The Spores Druid

The Slow Rot To Victory

halo of spores druid bg3-3
  • Druids are a powerful combination class, and players can build them as healers, defenders, and/or damage dealers.

The Circle of Spores leans into the DPS category, with DoT abilities like Fungal Infestation and Blight, but still has some of the shapeshifting and healing abilities to make them just as useful in a support role.

  • Race: Drow, Half-Elves, and Asmodeus Tieflings are a decent choice here, with access to a range of Cantrips that include Darkness and
    Faerie Fire

. The Deep Gnome has a Stealth advantage if the character is more of a DPS build than a healer or defender.

  • Feats: Take advantage of a high Intelligence or Wisdom stat and get Magic Initiate: Wizard or Cleric to add a few more spells to the already impressive array of choices.
  • Gear: The rare
    Hollow’s Staff

makes a lot of sense with this build because it deals both bludgeoning and necrotic damage, which matches nicely with abilities like Symbiotic Entity.

6

A Light-Blessed Druid

Both Classes Use Wisdom

baldur's gate 3 create druid class
  • For an overpowered healer or a DPS build, this multiclass can heal, shapeshift, and use several different weapons and armor.

Experimenting with multiclassing is another way to bring a character to that next overpowered level, and a great place to start is the Cleric and Druid combination. Subclasses and Feats may vary, but one of the most powerful subclasses is the Light Domain, and a Druid that combines this with the Circle of the Moon has just created a devastating casting and healing build.

  • Race: High Elves and half-High Elves have a choice of cantrips, which works nicely with a DPS build. Humans can give the class more weapon options, Halflings have the Lucky Feat as one of their racial skills, and Tieflings have better Fire Resistance along with extra casting abilities.
  • Feats: Alert keeps a healer or caster from being surprised and gives them a bonus to Initiative. Durable gives them a handy boost to Constitution for more hit points and better regeneration. Elemental Adept gives a character the ability to cast spells without the danger of a critical miss along with increased resistance to their elemental damage of choice.
  • Gear: Anything that increases Wisdom, which is the most important Ability Score for both of these classes, is the main priority.
    Amulet of the Harpers

, which grants an Advantage to Wisdom saving throws, is one example.

7

Arcane Trickster Rogue

The Best Of Two Deadly Worlds

baldurs-gate-3-astarion
  • Every party needs a Rogue anyway, and there might be some debate as to which combination would be more overpowered, the Arcane Trickster subclass or a Rogue-Wizard or Sorcerer multiclass.

A few basic magical abilities paired with the right gear and Feat choices make this variation on the Rogue OP enough without the former spellbook.

  • Race: Any race that has their choice of cantrips or Stealth enhancement abilities, which includes most Elf subraces, Gnomes, and Halflings. Those who want abilities like Faerie Fire or a cantrip can start with Elves or Half-Elves.
  • Feats: This build already has access to several spells, so enhance these existing abilities with Spell Sniper or Elemental Adept. Alert is always great, not only because it improves Initiative, but also ensures that the character can’t be surprised.
  • Gear: The shortsword
    Crimson Mischief

drops from Orin in Act 2, and it does both piercing and necrotic damage in addition to a condition called Redevin Savagery. The sword does extra piercing damage if the player has Advantage, as they often do in Stealth situations.

8

Gloomstalker Ranger

The Night Belongs To Us

Melian with the Necromancer book Spidersilk Armour in Baldur's Gate 3
  • It might be situational, but the environment in Baldur’s Gate 3 could have been made for the Gloomstalker. A lot is going on in dark places with extraplanar beings in this story, and this subclass has the Arcane and History proficiencies to know them and find them.

The Gloomstalker can be a ranged or melee build, with abilities like Dread Ambusher giving this character the first strike in a battle applicable to both types of attack.

  • Race: Any class that gets bonuses to Stealth, Darkvision, or movement is ideal. These include the Wood Elf, or any subrace Halfling, Drow, or Gnome. The Duergar have inherent skills like Cast Invisibility but are not as mobile or stealthy.
  • Feats: Alert improves Initiative and ensures the character can’t be surprised, and Mobile Increases speed and mobility in any terrain. Combine this with the Dread Ambrusher and the targets die before they know what hit them.
  • Gear: The
    Amulet of Bhaal

isn’t just used to unlock the temple’s inner sanctum. It gives the target the Bleed condition if they have full hit points, which is perfect for the Gloomstalker, who strikes first from the shadows. The Sharpened Snare Curiass is available from a vendor in Act 2, and it’s one of the best chest pieces any Ranger can have.

9

The College Of Valor Bard

Two Weapons, No Waiting

bg3 bard alfira tiefling
  • For those new to the world of D&D or turn-based gaming, this is the class that more experienced players often recommend. It’s the best of the other subclasses combined and can take almost any party role, so not often one that’s thought of as overpowered.

This melee build makes them more like Rogues or Fighters when it comes to damage dealing. It includes some extra spells and weapon skills, making this Bard build an overpowered rockstar.

  • Race: Tieflings, Dragonborn, and Elves have the most going for them when it comes to Dexterity modifiers and extra spell slots. Halflings are known for their Charisma and are often employed as traders and entertainers along the Sword Coast.
  • Feats: Mage Slayer makes the character even more deadly to casters in Melee range, and Dual Wielder allows them to become a flurry of sharp bits in melee range.
  • Gear:
    The Spectator Eyes

, an amulet found in the Underdark, allows players to add two more spells to this build if they think it is too reliant on physical damage.

10

The Gloomstalker Assassin

A Ranger Combined With A Deadly Rogue Subclass

melian and the drider baldur's gate 3
  • A melee or ranged build that relies on physical as opposed to magical damage with the mutual interest in Dexterity.

The Gloomstalker Ranger is already a class to be reckoned with, and combining it with one of the best Rogue builds the Assassin, makes this combination even more deadly. Rangers have some handy support spells that carry into this build so they can still help with healing and de-cursing along with precise and lethal abilities in battle and stealth.

  • Race: Darkvision is an important ability for this build, so any Elf, especially Drow, is ideal. Halflings and Gnomes, who not only have this ability but also Advantage when it comes to movement Stealth, are also great choices.
  • Feats: Athlete increases Dexterity or Consitution by +1 and allows the character to recover more quickly from a prone position. Crossbow Expert eliminates penalties for close-range shots, and Dual Wielder adds even more weapon options to this already versatile class.
  • Gear: This multiclass combines all of the best things about a Dexterity-based class, so players should look for anything that buffs this essential stat. The Ranger gives the Rogue more choices when it comes to armor, but one option for any class is the
    Elven Chain

, a rare piece of medium armor that gives Advantage to Initiative and Dexterity saving throws.

11

Way Of The Open-Hand Monk

No Weapons, No Problem

Baldurs Gate 3 Monk Unwritten Rules
  • Not all Monk subclasses give up on weapons entirely, but this one does, and it’s still brutal without them.

The Way of the Open Hand focuses on unarmed attacks. The variety offered with the different Flurry of Blows options available gives this build several ways to be as effective as any conventional fighting class. Every Monk subclass has access to skills that improve their movement capabilities, like Step of the Wind, and that makes everything the Way of the Open Hand can do even faster.

  • Race: Yet another great thing about this build is that it’s hard to go wrong when choosing a race, as long as players prioritize Dexterity and Constitution scores. Wisdom is also important for spellcasting abilities.
  • Feats: Athlete not only speeds up the ability to recover from a Prone position but also improves the Strength or Dexterity score. Another good choice is Durable, which raises the Constitution score.
  • Gear: It seems that the Monk’s choices would be limited, especially this build, which doesn’t use weapons. Monks can wear Clothing as opposed to armor, and there are several varieties in the game for different builds. The Drunken Cloth and
    Boots of Uninhibited Kushigo

    are two examples.

12

Oath Of Vengeance Paladin

A Moral Obligation For Justice

Baldur's Gate 3 Divine Smite Paladin
  • Fighting evil without mercy, and righting a wrong by any means necessary, along with some extra Radiant Damage.

In BG3, “light” damage is referred to as Radiant damage, and it’s commonly used by Paladins and Clerics. This is the Paladin subclass that not only has a buff in their ability to do radiant damage, but has also been given permission to use it without mercy against their foes.

  • Race: Dragonborn are known for their casting ability and their intimidating presence. Other decent choices are Humans and Half-orcs, each of which has opportunities to improve important Paladin stats like Strength and Constitution.
  • Feats: Athlete increases Strength or Dexterity by 2, and Charger helps the Paladin defend their allies.
  • Gear:
    Adamantine Splint Armour

ensures that nobody can strike the Paladin with a critical hit, and the
    Blade of Oppressed Souls

has the power to possibly inflict the target with Crown of Madness.

13

Light Domain Cleric

Shine Bright And Burn It All

A Drow Light Domain Cleric in Baldur's Gate 3
  • Certain subclasses get overlooked just because they don’t appear that exciting at first glance or get lost among the other various choices.

With choices like Tempest, War, and Life, which are notoriously the most popular Domains among a total choice of seven it’s easy to forget Light.

  • Race: A High Elf, or half High-elf, because there’s the Flaming Bolt Cantrip that comes with it and complements the light-based build. Other choices with extra firepower include the Asmodeus and Mephistopheles Teiflings.
  • Feats: Elemental Adept: Fire, should players stay with the fire-based build, Spell Sniper will improve their hit chance by +1 and give them one more Cantrip of your choice.
  • Gear: This is mainly a DPS and healing role, so any weapons will be more about buffs and extra spells than melee fighting. The Blood of Lathander and Selune’s Spear of Night are both ideal choices.

14

Wild Magic Barbarian

Destructive Fun

baldurs-gate-3-githyanki-barbarian
  • The whole concept of Wild Magic is a lot of fun when paired with its usual class, the Sorcerer. However, the Barbarian has the weapon and fighting prowess to make this build even more heavy-hitting, entertaining, and random.

It’s not just the extra magical abilities that make this build OP, but also the positive buffs that can extend to other party members. Bolstering Magic: Boon is a passive ability that gives allies within range a 1d4 bonus to Ability Checks and Attack Rolls.

  • Race: Zariel Tieflings have some impressive melee abilities, and Half-orcs have an ability called Relentless Endurance that keeps their hit points from hitting zero. Of course, any character with a high Strength score is fine, but keep in mind that this is a melee build, so a race with magical abilities should choose melee-ranged spells.
  • Feats: Get Martial Adept, and choose Riposte and Sweeping Attack.
  • Gear: Slay Sarevok, again, and he drops the Sword of Chaos, again. This greatsword not only looks impressive, but it does also both piercing and necrotic damage, and every time it does damage it returns hit points to the wielder.
