Big changes are coming to the Battle Rewards system of Clash Royale, and they involve the removal of Chest Keys. Starting in early January 2025, Chest Keys will no longer appear as rewards in the Diamond Pass Royale or Shop offers. By the end of March 2025, the feature will be removed entirely from the game.
This change is part of a plan to bring new features to Clash Royale
This adjustment isn’t just about taking something away. As per the official announcement, it’s part of a larger plan to introduce new features that will improve the game experience. The Clash Royale team has hinted that the changes will allow you to play more matches and earn rewards without the need to rely on Chest Keys.
As part of the Magic Items, Chest Keys were items in Clash Royale that let you skip the unlock timer for chests for free without the need for gems. You could get them from Special Challenges, Shop offers, and the paid tiers of Pass Royale. Most players used them for rare chests, like Magical or Giant Chests, since those took longer to unlock.
Now that Chest Keys are being removed, you’ll need to use them before the end of March next year. Excess Chest Keys are converted into 100 Gold for each as of now, so I’m not sure if this will be the same pattern after March 2025 or if we still have a few remaining once they are taken off.
The team hasn’t shared all the details yet, but they’ve said these changes will make it easier to play and earn rewards. More information is coming early next year, so keep an eye out. Any unused keys will disappear after that, so it’s a good idea to use your Chest Keys while you still can!
