Best Early Team in Temtem

Best Early Team in Temtem

Summary

  • Temtem features unique synergies that drastically impact gameplay, affecting move priority and damage.
  • Houchic is an excellent starter choice with high special attack, effective against neutral types early on.
  • Ganki is a top early Temtem to catch, excelling with type matchups and securing wins in the first Dojo battle.

Temtem is a prime candidate for fans looking through good games in the monster-taming sub-genre. Temtem throws out 2 Temtem at a time, and these creatures’ moves can actually change depending on their teammates. This comes in the form of synergies. Players will want the best early team for the first few Dojos, and they can get all the Temtem they need right on the first island.

Pokemon Clone Temtem Gets Official Nuzlocke Mode

Temtem’s Update 1.3 brings a variety of new content ranging from challenge modes to a new area, including an official Nuzlocke mode.

Synergies can change move priority, increase damage, or even change the very typing of moves. This makes deciding who is in your team very important. None of the starters will be effective against the first 3 Dojo types, but there are plenty of wild Temem to get in the first few areas to dominate these early parts of the game.

Houchic

The Perfect Starter to Choose

Temtem Best Early Team Houchic

Houchic is a phenomenal Temtem from the start of the game all the way to the end. Houchic’s final evolution has one of the highest Special Attack stats in the entire game, making it one of the best Mental Temtem overall. During the earlier parts of the game, players will encounter lots of neutral types, which are only weak to Mental Temtem.

This will allow Houchic to gain plenty of experience to be able to take down some of the tankiest Temtem. These tanky Temtem will be thrown at them during some of the tougher trainer battles. Players will encounter tons of Skail and Saipat while in the Windward Fort, and Houchic will make short work of both. This will make saving the first Dojo leader a much easier ordeal. This is also where players can catch 2 of the other Temtem on this list. Houchic will later become a dual Mental/Water type, giving it even more type coverage. Out of all the game’s starters, Houchic is the best choice.

Kaku

Tanky Temtem with a Lot of Options

Temtem Best Early Team Kaku

Players are also going to need a good Nature type Temtem. The best 2 options for their team in the early parts of the game are Saku and Loali. Loali might have the better damage output, but it cannot last long with its poor HP and Defense stats. This makes it less viable in Dojo fights. Saku on the other hand, has significantly higher HP and Defense stats, with a slightly lower Special Defence stat compared to Loali.

Temtem: How To Beat The Lochburg Dojo

In Temtem, beating Murdag of the Lochburg Dojo can be achieved with a few simple preparations in place.

Saku evolves from Kaku, which can be caught on the very first route after leaving the starting town. Keep training this Temtem to help you crush the early Dojos thanks to its wide range of element coverage. All of which are physical attacks that use its Attack stat. Kaku will cover Wind, Toxic, Nature, and even has a Mental attack. This cements it as an amazing early Temtem, but also as one of the best Nature Temtem overall.

Ganki

Dominates the First Dojo Single Handedly

Temtem Best Early Team Ganki

Ganki is one of two Electric Temtem players can get before the first Dojo. Electric Temtem are the only ones that will have type effectiveness against 4 elements. Thanks to its type matchup of Electric and Wind, its only real threat are Crystal Temem. These are not a frequent threat early on, and players will only need to worry about them later in the game. Electric Temtem can trivialize the first Dojo fight — and get players a Surfboard.

Players will spend a large portion of the game traversing water, which will almost always have wild Temtem lurking. These Water Temtem are weak to Electric attacks. Having multiple Electric Temtem is highly advised while players make their way through the earlier parts of the game. Players can pick this Temtem up in the Windward Fort before the first Dojo. Having an opening round of Ganki and Houchic can end a lot of encounters on turn 1. Ganki’s Wind typing will also help increase the damage output for Kaku’s Debris Typhoon.

Scarawatt

An Electric Type Tank That Also Helps Later On

Artifact Puzzle Legacy of Kain_ Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered-9

Scaravolt and Gazuma are 2 of the best electric Temtem in the game. Players can find both of their pre-evolutions in the Windward Fort as Scarawatt and Ganki respectively. Players will encounter a large number of water Temem in the game, and they should take advantage of that to get Scarawatt plenty of experience.

Temtem: How To Beat The Neoedo Dojo

Dojo’s offer players a unique challenge in the form of battles and puzzles, and this is how players can beat the Neoedo Dojo in Temtem

This is because its evolution is a dual Electric/Fire Temtem. It may not be very useful for the second Dojo, but the third Dojo will throw a strong Water/Fire Temem that will struggle against Scaravolt. Scaravolt will be able to use Electric attacks to finish the fight even at a lower levels from its resistance to the opponent’s Fire and Water attacks. This can also be credited to just how tanky this Temtem can be from its high HP stat.

Platypet

The Perfect Solution to Fire Temtem

Temtem Best Early Team Platypet

During the second island, players will encounter many wild Fire Temtem. This Temtem and its evolutions can make short work of groups thanks to its Tsunami skill. This Temtem is also the perfect choice to destroy the second Dojo thanks to being a powerful Water typing, but it also has dual typing to make it a Toxic. This Toxic typing will bolster Kaku’s Urushiol technique while they fight together. Platypet learns Water, Toxic, and even an Earth attack.

It stands among some of the best Special Attack stat Temtem and can be found in the Gifted Bridges of the first Island of the game. Many players will keep this Temtem in their main party throughout the game, and it will shine both early on and in the final parts of their journey. This Temtem is ranked as one of the best Toxic Temtem, but also as one of the best Water Temtem. This makes it perfect for facing off against awkwardly typed opponents.

Nessla

Self-healing Sweeper For Farming Experiance

Temtem Best Early Team Nessla

This list has a lot of similar-typed Temem, but this has led to it covering every element the game can throw at them — except Electric. While most types are addressed twice, Water has been addressed 4 times already due to just how frequently it shows up in the game. Electric is weak to Crystal and Earth, which are not really options on the first island of the game. Players will want to pick up a Nessla to rectify that. Nessla is the last Temtem players will be adding to their party, as they will need to defeat the first Dojo leader to get the Surfboard first.

Once they do, there is only a 10% chance that this Temtem will appear in a small body of water in the Thalassian Cliffs, or at one of the southernmost points of Sillaro River. What makes this Temtem such a sought-after choice is that it can have the Electric Synthesis trait to heal up whenever it receives Electric damage. Furthermore, it can learn Chain Lightning to hit 2 opponents before healing itself. This makes Nessla able to finish plenty of water-based fights on turn 1 while also healing itself, allowing players to farm experience for the other Temtem they have deployed. Nessla is also perfect for facing Electric Temtem, since they will frequently heal it with Electric attacks.
