Many of the gameplay mechanics from the Wii title also make a return in this mod, such as Super Mario Galaxy‘s gravity system, the assembly blocks from Space Junk Galaxy, Cataquacks that can launch Mario, and even the flip switch panels. The Comet Observatory itself returns as an overworld for players to access all 42 returning galaxies from Super Mario Galaxy.
Many enemies and bosses from Super Mario Galaxy have also been ported into Odyssey. For example, Kamek, the Dino Piranha, Megaleg, and Bouldergeist were shown off in the reveal trailer.
