Undisputed Devs Respond to the Game's Hit Registration Issues

Summary

  • Steel City Interactive says Undisputed’s hit registration issues are being worked on and are a “priority” for the studio.
  • No release window for a fix was confirmed, but Steel City says it will release an update as soon as the improvement is ready.
  • Undisputed has received multiple updates since its first patch in November, addressing numerous bugs and making a handful of gameplay improvements.

Undisputed developer Steel City Interactive has issued a response regarding the game’s hit registration issues, informing the community that it is a priority for the studio. While Undisputed was in early access for almost two years, the highly-anticipated boxing simulation game finally launched for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC back in October, but serious hit registration issues have been plaguing both online and career mode for almost two months now. Thankfully, it looks like some major improvements are now in the works.

After years of no major boxing video game release, Steel City looked to fill the gap in the market with the launch of Undisputed. Unfortunately, its release was met with mixed reviews from boxing fans as many blasted the title for having missing features and a “bare bones” career mode. Thankfully, Steel City has remained committed to improving Undisputed with numerous updates since its launch. One of the latest patches was released earlier this month, with some major improvements to Undisputed‘s career mode, such as the ability to move up and down in weight classes.

Steel City Interactive Provides Update on Undisputed Hit Registration Issues

Shortly after releasing a new update for Undisputed, Steel City responded to a fan on Twitter who asked the studio to address the hit registration issue. After weeks of complaints from players, Steel City has now confirmed that it will be releasing an update for the game’s hit registration issues “as soon as the improvement is ready.” The studio also revealed that improving the game’s punch accuracy is a “priority.” No expected timeline for the fix was shared by Steel City, but with the holiday season now upon us, it’s fair to assume that fans will likely continue to experience inaccurate punches until the new year rolls around.

Undisputed has had multiple bugs present since launch, but arguably one of the biggest issues with the title right now is with the accuracy of punches. While a small minority of users will argue that the hit registration is actually due to the placement of a fighter’s feet, others think many of the game’s punches simply aren’t registering as intended. Reddit user jUWSyGRiZ said that the game’s hit detection is “tragic,” while Spacecowboybc said they thought they were “tripping” and ended up uninstalling the game as it felt like only half of their shots made sense.

Ever since the game’s first update back in November, Steel City has ramped up the number of patches for Undisputed, with multiple updates being released throughout December. One of the most recent patches came on December 12 alongside the controversial addition of Jake Paul to the Undisputed roster. The YouTuber-turned-boxer recently picked up a win over 58-year-old Mike Tyson before making his debut in Undisputed as part of The Problem Child DLC pack, which also includes numerous other fighters and cosmetic items.
