Things Not to Buy from Shops

Things Not to Buy from Shops

Summary

  • Plants are easy to gather.
  • Animal grooming materials aren’t worth buying.
  • Fishing and bugs are better gathered than bought.

Infinity Nikki involves a lot of buying, trading, and collecting, which can be confusing in the first few hours of the game. In each area of interest, there are bound to be a few shops with a wide range of offerings. Some are worth their prices, and some are not. While Blings are not difficult to come by, it is important to spend them wisely to maximize their value and get as many possible outfit pieces for Nikki. Gacha games are often about managing currencies, and blings are one of the ways players can access rare items without having to dip into valuable Diamonds or premium Stellarite.

Some items are so easy to find in Miraland that buying them isn’t a good use of currency. In addition, purchasing items as opposed to manually gathering them can sometimes mean missing out on useful resource accumulation, like Insight or Essences. Instead, new players should focus on shops that sell clothing or clothing sketches, which are usually only found at one vendor and are worth the investment. The following items, though, aren’t worth purchasing.

6 Plants

The Fruits Of Exploration

A plant vendor in Infinity Nikki in Florawish

  • Easy to gather: just pick up and go.
  • Gathering grants Insight and Essence.
  • Trackable

Plants are perhaps the easiest resource to gather. Despite the many NPCs hawking their botanical wares across Miraland, it is almost never worth it to purchase a flower, pollen, or fruit. They are needed for almost all outfit sketches, so it can be tempting, but it is incredibly easy to gather plant materials out in the world.

Plus, when players buy plants instead of gathering them, they miss out on all-important Insight, which is used to level up all gathering skills (plant gathering, animal grooming, bug catching, and fishing) via the Heart of Infinity menu. Once players level up their gathering enough, they can also get Essence by gathering plants instead of purchasing them.

5 Animal Grooming Materials

Floofs Aren’t Worth Your Fortune

An animal material vendor in Florawish in the game Infinity Nikki

  • Players will miss out on petting dogs.
  • The rarest ones are not sold at shops.
  • Grants Insight and Essence.

There are lots of shops selling animal materials throughout Miraland, including Ritly’s Materialtopia in Florawish. These items are used in a variety of crafting endeavors, and it can be tempting to purchase that one last Floof, Feather, or Furball needed for a complex outfit. Some rarer materials, like Rose Velvet and Dawn Fluff, can only be collected once a day.

However, these items are easily available through animal grooming. Players will need to unlock Bye-Bye Dust by playing through the main story in order to do so. After all, players will miss out on the unique grooming animations for each individual species if they purchase all their grooming items.

4 Bugs

A Net Loss

  • Easy to collect
  • Trackable
  • Grants Insight and Essence when gathered rather than bought.

While bug catching can be time-consuming, it usually isn’t worth it to fork over blings for a bug. Plenty of shops across the map sell them, but with Infinity Nikki’s resource tracking system, it is almost always easier to break out the bug-catching outfit (The Afternoon Sunshine, unlocked early in the main story) and catch them as opposed to buying.

Infinity Nikki is full of adorable little critters that can help your wardrobe sparkle and shine, if you know where to find them.

Some bugs are more difficult to catch than others; for example, the Blossom Beetle requires a sneaky approach. However, no bugs are particularly limited in quantity. The tracking feature is accessible via the map and can show the approximate location of animals, plants, fish, and bugs.

3 Fish

A Reel Bad Value

A Faewish Sprite selling fish in Infinity Nikki

  • Slightly more difficult to collect.
  • Grants Insight and Essence.
  • Can find partial Whimstars while fishing.

Fishing is perhaps the most tedious resource gathering in Infinity Nikki, so it is understandable that players might be tempted to purchase fish from the vendor beside the Fishing Association. However, like other materials that are available to collect, fish still aren’t worth it. Players can once again use the tracking function to hunt down any fish needed for an outfit sketch.

Fishing in Infinity Nikki lets players gather unique materials used for crafting clothes and other items.

By fishing themselves, players will also get fishing insight and, if they have unlocked the ability, fish essences that are needed for higher quality outfit pieces. It is also possible to get partial Whimstars while fishing, which can be traded in at The Fishing Association.

2 Whimstars

Just Ask Momo Instead

  • Very expensive to buy.
  • Found easily while exploring.

If players find a character wandering the woods behind the Florawish stylists’ guild, they may encounter Stray Hatty: a little hat creature with a deal to pitch. The first few Whimstars for sale aren’t too cheap, but the final of the eight available will cost poor Nikki a whopping 3,000,000 blings.

During Infinity Nikki’s main quest you’ll be tasked with repairing the Well of Fortune, which also contains four Whimstars and 25 Dews of Inspiration.

When Whimstars populate the map as frequently as they do, Stray Hatty should be used as a last resort only. Players will most definitely find plenty by exploring new areas of the map or completing platforming levels as part of the main storyline.

1 Combo Bonbons

Hit Shuffle On Nikki’s Outfit

The candy vandor and a bonbon outfit in Infinity Nikki

  • Fun, but not practical.
  • Temporary effect

Combo Bonbons, purchased from Maestrio’s Gourmet Candy Store, will put Nikki in a random sweet or fresh outfit for one minute. Sometimes these combinations are great, and sometimes they look just as random as they are. While these are fun, they don’t usually result in particularly high-scoring or even cute fits, and they only last a short while.

Not every purchase needs to be practical; that is part of the fun of a fantasy dress-up game like Infinity Nikki. But if a player wants to get the maximum use out of every bling, bonbons are likely not on the shopping list.
