Sakamoto Days is part of the Winter 2025 anime season lineup. It’s been revealed the first season will be split into two separate cours: the first one premieres on January 11, 2025, running for 11 episodes, and the other will also be 11 episodes long, and it’s set for July 2025.
Alongside Solo Leveling: Arise from the Shadow, this is one of the most hyped series for this season (and maybe for the whole year), and fans are looking forward to the panel at Jump Festa 2025 (which is likely to drop a new trailer) this weekend.

The greatest assassin in the world has settled down and started a family, but the life he left behind isn’t so quick to let him go.
Netflix will stream the series simultaneously to the Japanese broadcast, which is not that common, but also shows how much investment is being put into this adaptation. Now it’s been announced all 19 manga volumes will be reprinted ahead of the anime premiere.
Is Sakamoto Days Flying Off The Shelves?
Full-series reprints usually happen when the series is generally sold-out in most retail shops. Taking a look at Amazon Japan, that doesn’t seem to be the case right now, but it suggests Shueisha is expecting an upsurge in demand for all the volumes (which happens when a lot of people start reading it at the same time, a common outcome of successful anime adaptations), so they are probably reprinting it to avoid any shortages in the near future.
Bookstores also might have been asking Shueisha to ship them more volumes if they’ve already noticed any rise in demand. Furthermore, this kind of announcement also brings more attention to the series. Even if volumes aren’t sold out yet, when people read this kind of news, they are likely to think the series is already boosting in popularity (well, it already has over 7 million copies in circulation, so it is indeed doing well).
Retired Killer Trying to Live a Quiet Life
Sakamoto Days follows a premise that is similar to Gokushufudo, but with a different plot development. Protagonist Taro Sakamoto was one of the best assassins of the world, but he decided to retire after finding love. Now, as a father and owner of a convenience store, he wants to have a peaceful life, but his past still follows him. He will either protect his family or die trying.
The original manga is penned by Yuto Suzuki, and has been running in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump magazine since 2020. VIZ Media licenses it in the US. As for the anime, TMS Entertainment is handling the adaptation, with Masaki Watanabe (Bakumatsu) in charge of direction.
