Revival-a-go-go, baby!

This is now the case with Okami HD, which, after The Game Awards, is being price gouged, with copies selling for between three and ten times more than they were.

Okami HD Price Gouged Following Sequel Reveal

Amaterasu bares her teeth in anger in Okami.

Okami has received a few re-releases since its original 2006 launch, but hopes of a sequel were long thought to be nothing but a pipe dream. Many of the game’s original creators had left Capcom, and following Okamiden, it seemed to be another franchise left to die. That was until Okami 2 was revealed as one of the biggest surprises at this year’s Game Awards, with original creator Hideki Kamiya set to return.

Naturally, opportunists out there have seen this as an opportunity to make a quick buck as prices on the physical North American version of Okami have skyrocketed.

Prior to The Game Awards’ reveal, you could comfortably pick up a boxed PS4 copy of Okami on eBay for between $15 and $20. Now, the cheapest version available with the Buy it Now option is $150. Notably, there are only a handful of copies of the game with a T-rating available on eBay. Another copy is listed for $190, while one auction is sitting at $65, at the time of writing.

It’s the type of furor that saw Piglet’s Big Game jump up in price by 1,500 percent earlier this year after a video went viral on social media and the same that saw Concord triple in price after it was delisted from the PlayStation Store. Both games have slowly begun to come down in price since their big spikes.

For those who aren’t worried about having a physical copy of the game, Okami is available with a deep discount on Steam and the PlayStation Store for $5.
