DC Comics and Sega have revealed more information regarding the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog and Justice League crossover comic, including the first cover and details about how the two legendary properties get together. The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has been on a huge media renaissance since the early 2020s, as Sega has been putting a lot into making the Blue Blur into an icon across various properties, including the ongoing IDW Comics, the games, and live-action movies, which all have been getting a lot of attention and marketing. One of the biggest announcements made in 2024 was that the Sonic franchise and DC Comics’ Justice League would be crossing over next year.
First announced during the September 2024 Sonic Central livestream, Sega revealed that Sonic and the Justice League will be teaming up in a brand-new crossover comic. The first hint about this was dropped in a short animation where Shadow the Hedgehog took up the mantle of Batman, followed by an official announcement during Sonic Central. It was also revealed that longtime Sonic the Hedgehog writer Ian Flynn would be writing for the series. More details of this crossover have been revealed by DC Comics.
