A Russian retailer has leaked details of an entire series of laptops containing Nvidia GeForce RTX 5000 GPUs. The information in the leak contains a number of specs of the new Nvidia Blackwell laptop chips, including the amount of VRAM and power output.
Every new mobile GPU from the unannounced RTX 5000 laptop roster appears to be on the list, from the Nvidia RTX 5090 to the 5050, with details of the amount of memory coming with each GPU. The only information not available is the total power on the mobile RTX 5070, 5060, and 5050.
The retailer’s original data only specified the GPUs’ internal names (GN22-X7 is the RTX 5070 Ti, for instance). However, X (formerly Twitter) leaker Huang514613 collated the retailer’s leak into a table to clearly show what’s what, and which we’ve converted the information about the new mobile GPUs into the table below.
GPU (Laptop) | Codename | VRAM, TDP |
RTX 5090 | GN22-X11 | 16GB GDDR7, 175W |
RTX 5080 | GN22-X9 | 16GB GDDR7, 175W |
RTX 5070 Ti | GN22-X7 | 12GB GDDR7, 140W |
RTX 5070 | GN22-X6 | 8GB GDDR7 |
RTX 5060 | GN22-X4 | 8GB GDDR7 |
RTX 5050 | GN22-X2 | 8GB GDDR7 |
Nvidia has, so far, not alluded to the existence of RTX 5000-series mobile chips, making this one of the first major leaks for this hardware. According to the leak, the laptop RTX 5090 will have half the VRAM rumored to be on the desktop RTX 5090, at 16GB. An Acer leak recently appeared to confirm that the desktop version will have 32GB, meaning this is a significant cutback.
However, we’ll have to wait for real-world tests to see the key differences between the laptop versions of the RTX 5090 and 5080, as they both look set to feature 16GB of VRAM and output a total of 175W. The 5090 will presumably be quicker, though, as it’s likely to have more CUDA cores, RTX cores, and Tensor cores.
Meanwhile, the list also appears to confirm that the laptop RTX 5070 and 5060 GPUs will come with 8GB of VRAM, much to the dismay of many PC gaming fanatics. While 8GB of VRAM is still enough to run many games at decent settings at 1080p, we’re seeing an increasing number of games in our tests that demand more, including Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Doom Eternal with ray tracing enabled.
Finally, it looks as though the mobile RTX 5070 Ti will come with 12GB of VRAM, down from the 16GB rumored to be attached to the desktop version.
Similar to how Nvidia handled the launch of the RTX 4050, the RTX 5050 GPU seems to be coming to laptops first. It’s unknown if the RTX 5050 will make its way to the desktop, as the 4050 never actually manifested – despite boxes spotted. Meanwhile, the RTX 5000 laptops leaked include the new Asus ROG Strix Scar 18, G16, and G835. The G835 is set to use the Intel 275HX and RTX 5090, according to the leak. It’s expected that they’ll launch in Spring, 2025.
Interestingly, some of these laptops also appear to still be using Ryzen 7000 series CPUs. While the Intel laptops all feature current Core Ultra 9 285HX and 275HX processors, the AMD versions look as though they’ll only sport the Ryzen 9 7945HX and 7940HX.
In the meantime, CES 2025 is just a few weeks away, and we’re expecting major shake-ups to the best graphics card lineups at the event. Both AMD and Nvidia have big events planned, with a slew of new hardware expected to be shown off at the event.
