How To Use Vengeful Mirage In Black Myth: Wukong

Black Myth: Wukong puts a heavy focus on dodging, as there is a parry but it is tied to a specific spell. While most dodges will be a basic dodge to get out of the way, players can land a perfect dodge that will set you up greatly for a counterattack.

There are many additional upgrades players can unlock to make their perfect dodges more effective, with one of them being the Vengeful Mirage upgrade. While it may take players some time to unlock this upgrade, it is well worth the effort for those who have mastered the perfect dodge.

How To Use Vengeful Mirage In Black Myth: Wukong

  • Final upgrade in the Stamina skill tree.
  • It costs 2 Sparks to unlock.
  • Triggers only on perfect dodges.

Vengeful Spirit leaves behind an illusion after you land a perfect dodge that will explode after a second. The mirage will be placed wherever you first start to dodge animation and will explode after about a second without any trigger necessary from the player. While the in-game description for this ability calls it an explosion, it may not be as big and spectacular as you’d think.

The explosion will detonate from the mirage, but visually it amounts to little more than a few sparks shooting out in every direction from the mirage, and sometimes won’t be noticeable to the player depending on the distance and background. While it may not look amazing visually, Vengeful Mirage can deal a decent bit of dodge for a dodge upgrade, and there is no limit to how many enemies it can hit.

The only trick to using this skill efficiently is that you’ll need to land a perfect dodge to make the mirage, and that requires a dodge at the last second before an attack hits you. You’ll know you landed a perfect dodge as time will slow down for a brief moment, much like landing Evanescence. Landing a perfect dodge every time will take practice, and is easiest against large enemies with slow attack animations, and players should practice perfect dodging whenever possible.

A useful tip for dodging is to always dodge into an enemy’s attack, making you and the hit box collide quicker and when you want.

How Good Is Vengeful Mirage In Black Myth: Wukong

Enemies Being Damaged From A Vengeful Mirage

Vengeful Mirage is a great skill players should unlock right away, as it can be unlocked and forgotten. Overall, players should always aim to get perfect dodges, and this upgrade only adds a bonus for when they do land. While the damage may not be a ton against a boss, landing multiple perfect dodges throughout a fight will slowly add up, and require no additional effort outside their usual play style.

This skill does excel when fighting multiple smaller enemies, as your constant dodging will help increase your odds of even just accidentally landing a perfect dodge. Against basic enemies, Vengeful Mirage can deal a significant amount of damage and also help stagger them, setting them up for a more powerful skill you need to wind up to use.

Good Foundations To Unlock To Help Vengeful Mirage

While there is a skill that lets you parry, getting the most out of Vengeful Mirage will require you to focus purely on dodging, so it’s best to spend as many of your sparks on various foundations that help you dodge as much as possible. Below are foundation upgrades you can spend your sparks on to help get more out of Vengeful Mirage:

  • Simian Agility – Reduces the stamina used to dodge, letting you dodge more often without stopping and creating more Mirages.
  • Everlasting Vigor – Makes your stamina recover much faster.
  • Composure – Dodges or perfect dodges don’t interrupt your light attack combos.
  • Ephemeral Shadow – Gives your damage reduction after getting a successful perfect dodge, which you’ll already be aiming to get.
