There’s a wealth of materials to find in Enshrouded, and it can be hard to keep track of them all. Ammonia Glands occupy a small part of the game’s library of resources, but they play a big part in a player’s overall gear progression, especially if they rely mainly on crafting gear.

2024 Might Just Be The Year of Survival Games

It has already been a surprising year for survival games, and with more on the way, 2024 might just be one of the best years for the genre.

Ammonia Glands can be tricky to find since their main source isn’t so obvious. Besides that, these are found only in a specific part of the game’s map. If you’re wondering how to get some Ammonia Glands for you and your friends in Enshrouded, here’s where you can find some.

Updated December 20, 2024 by Marc Santos: Ammonia Glands remain crucial to the progression experience in Enshrouded, but apart from leveling up their Flame Altars, players also need this resource for a number of other important resources and implements. We’ve updated this guide to include those recipes to make sure players know just how many Ammonia Glands they need to gather before setting out for a harvesting trip.

Where to Get Ammonia Glands in Enshrouded

The main source of Ammonia Glands are the sentient, quadrupedal mushrooms that roam around Umber Hollow, a Shroud-covered area between the Nomad Highlands and Kindlewastes. You’ll need to upgrade your Flame to Level 4 if you want to explore this location. If you fail to meet this requirement, you’ll be consumed by the Shroud as soon as you step inside.

The giant mushrooms in Umber Hollow are similar to the ones you find in Revelwood. However, the ones that drop Ammonia Glands are extremely aggressive — they will charge at you once they notice your presence, and they’ll try to take you down by releasing toxic clouds. These attacks are easy to avoid, but they’ll hurt a lot if you don’t have any poison resistance.

Much like their more docile cousins, Umber Hollow’s sentient mushrooms have very high health, which can make things hard for a melee character. If you don’t want to waste recovery supplies, use the Battle Heal passive under Enshrouded‘s Tank tree so you can get some HP back every time you crit with a melee weapon.

Giant mushrooms roam all over Umber Hollow, but you’re likely to encounter at least one by visiting the map marker on the image above. Two of them should be in the general area, but if you can’t find any, run around Umber Hollow while following the road.

Known Enshrouded Ammonia Gland Recipes

The Ammonia Gland in Enshrouded may seem useless at first, but you’ll need them to upgrade your Flame Altar to Level 5. They’re also used for a number of crafting recipes. When farming for Ammonia Glands, make sure to place a Flame Altar in the non-shrouded area above Umber Hollow. If you’re also looking for Fossilized Bones, then the area around the Blazing Rock Trading Outpost west of Umber Hollow is a good place to set up.
