In Raft, you start with a modest wooden platform and a simple hook to snag debris like Planks and Rope. But as your floating home grows, so does the need for advanced crafting materials. One of the most important resources you’ll need is Vine Goo, which is essential for creating better tools and devices that keep your raft powered and running smoothly.
The game doesn’t hand you all the answers, though, and it’s up to you to figure out how to acquire Vine Goo and its many uses. If you’re wondering where to start, we’ve got all the details regarding Vine Goo laid out below.
How To Get Vine Goo
To get Vine Goo, your first step is harvesting Seaweed from the underwater kelp plants near island reefs. Once you’ve got some Seaweed, you’ll need a Smelter to refine it. If you haven’t already crafted one, you’ll need to gather and research the following ingredients:
- 4x Plank
- 6x Dry Brick
- 4x Scrap
- 6x Nail
While Plank, Scrap, and Nail are easy to find, crafting Dry Brick requires combining Clay and Sand to create a Wet Brick. After that, place a Wet Brick on your raft for five minutes to dry and turn into a Dry Brick.
Once crafted, place the Smelter on your raft and fuel it with Planks. Insert a single Seaweed into the Smelter, and in 45 seconds, you’ll have Vine Goo. Later in the game, you can unlock the Electric Smelter, which processes three Seaweed at a time after reaching the Temperance island.
Alternatively, you can also obtain Vine Goo by killing an Anglerfish, which you’ll encounter at Varuna Point. However, this method is far less efficient compared to crafting it yourself.
How To Use Vine Goo
Vine Goo can be tossed into a Recycler to earn Trash Cubes for Trading Posts, but its true value lies in crafting essential survival tools and gear. Before diving into crafting, make sure to submit one Vine Goo to the Research Table to unlock its uses.
Here’s a breakdown of every item you can craft with Vine Goo and its requirements:
