STALKER developer GSC Game World has recently revealed that both the console and PC versions of the original STALKER games will be updated sometime in 2025. The exciting reveal for STALKER players comes on the heels of a major STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl update, which fixed many bugs and performance issues in the recently released FPS.

The original STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl was released in 2007 and was followed by two sequels: Clear Sky in 2008, and Call of Pripyat in 2009, with all originally available as PC exclusives. Earlier this year, GSC Game World finally released the trilogy for consoles with STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy. Now, with the successful reception of STALKER 2, it seems that the developers are ready to give some additional love to the classic STALKER trilogy.

In a recent social media post, GSC Game World announced its plans for 2025, which include continuing to support STALKER 2, releasing a next-gen patch for STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy, and providing updates for the PC versions of the original STALKER games. Considering that Call of Pripyat was released in 2009 and remained without new updates for over a decade, this is excellent news for fans of the franchise. Unfortunately, however, GSC Game World has not disclosed when gamers can expect the updates for these excellent immersive first-person shooters.

Original PC Versions of STALKER Games and the STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy to Be Updated in 2025

This announcement follows the huge STALKER 2 Update 1.1 which fixed over 1,800 bugs. This eagerly awaited patch fixed many known issues with NPCs, game optimization, missions, and more. Some of these fixes were focused on improving A-Life, the artificial intelligence system used to give lifelike behaviors to the game’s NPCs, which was not working well at release. While STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl was generally liked by gamers, it was quite buggy at launch, so it’s good to see that GSC Game World has been swiftly addressing the game’s most pressing issues.

Overall, the eagerly awaited release of STALKER 2 has proven to be a huge hit. The game sold over a million copies in less than 48 hours, and GSC has recently announced that STALKER 2 has already turned a profit, despite having a budget that was conservatively estimated to be more than $80 million. While exact numbers have not been divulged, the future is looking bright for STALKER 2, as the game continues to find success with fans. With these fixes, it’s bound to become even better over time.
