Call of Duty fans continue to speculate on classic titles such as Black Ops 2 and the original Modern Warfare coming to Xbox Game Pass in the near future. In recent weeks, various Call of Duty titles such as Advanced Warfare, Ghosts, WWII, Black Ops 3, and more have suddenly made an appearance on the Microsoft Store for PC, with Black Ops 2 becoming the latest to join the platform just this week.
In October 2023, Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard was approved by the relevant market authorities, making it the largest acquisition in gaming history. With Microsoft now becoming Activision-Blizzard’s parent company, the studio has access to a wide variety of properties, such as Call of Duty, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Diablo, and many more. One of the biggest questions after the acquisition was approved was whether or not Microsoft would choose to put older Call of Duty titles onto Xbox’s lucrative Game Pass subscription service. With some of the franchise’s earliest games suddenly appearing on the Microsoft Store for PC, fans believe a massive Game Pass drop could be imminent.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Now Available on Microsoft Store for PC
Recent Call of Duty titles, such as 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 6 are already available on Xbox Game Pass, with the latter becoming the first title in the series to release on the service on day one. But now fans are convinced that some of the franchise’s earliest releases could be coming to the service as Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 becomes the latest title to mysteriously appear on the Microsoft Store for PC. There’s no confirmation from either Activision or Microsoft that any older Call of Duty games are coming to the service, but the sudden appearance of multiple titles on the Microsoft Store has fans speculating that it could only mean one thing.
Black Ops 2 is just the latest Call of Duty title to suddenly appear on the Microsoft Store for PC, with various other classic games such as the entire Modern Warfare trilogy, Advanced Warfare, Ghosts, WWII, Black Ops 3, and more now available on the storefront. There are still a few more additions to go, with the original Black Ops and World at War still unavailable. Newer titles, such as Black Ops 4, Black Ops Cold War, Vanguard, and more are also unavailable, but fans aren’t expecting any of the franchise’s most recent entries to make an appearance on Game Pass (aside from 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 6, of course).
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6‘s Game Pass debut was reportedly a massive success for Microsoft and Activision. According to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Black Ops 6 achieved a new record for day one players, while Xbox Game Pass also saw an influx of subscribers on Black Ops 6‘s launch day. Only time will tell if the success of Black Ops 6 on Game Pass leads to even more Call of Duty titles coming to the service.
