When it was first released, plenty of people criticized Cyberpunk 2077 for its many technical issues. Their complaints were justified, as you couldn’t walk several steps in Night City without coming across a glitch or a drop in frames – thankfully, things seemed to have improved since.
The game’s positive qualities have often been overlooked. For example, the voice-acting in Cyberpunk doesn’t get enough credit. The main voice cast delivers strong performances throughout the adventure. And they’re also assisted by some solid writing. Characters typically provide realistic and witty dialog. Plus, there are also some powerful lines during the more serious moments of the story. Some of the best examples are included here.
Updated December 18, 2024 By Ben Jessey: One of the best parts of Cyberpunk 2077 is its dialogue. That is why we created this list of the best quotes in the game. We’ve now returned to the collection to add a few more gems.
13 “Welcome To The World Of The Faces In The Crowd, V.”
Misty Olszewski
In the additional ending provided by Phantom Liberty, V actually gets Johnny removed from their head. In the process, though, they also lose all their cybernetics, meaning they’re no longer the super merc they once were. This is shown by the fact they get beaten up by a couple of nobodies, which is an incident that saddens the protagonist.
However, Misty points out that V is simply a normal person now, as she welcomes him to “the world of the faces in the crowd.” It’s weird to think of V as just a face in the crowd, but Misty’s quote is a good way to describe this ending of the game. The protagonist does just become a regular person in this conclusion, and Misty’s line may help them realize there is nothing wrong with that.
12 “For Folks Like Us? Wrong City, Wrong People.”
Johnny Silverhand
The game has multiple endings, but none of them are overly happy. V either loses people, loses themselves, or has to accept they’re going to die. This may seem like a bit of a downer, but it makes sense, as Johnny points out in a conversation with the protagonist.
V says they wished for a happier ending for everyone, but Johnny points out that they’re the wrong people in the wrong city for that. After all, throughout the game, it’s well established that Night City is a pretty horrible and morally corrupt place, while V isn’t exactly a noble hero. So, like Johnny says, it’s no surprise that things don’t go perfectly for everyone.
11 “We All Lap Up The Last Of Our Fuel Eventually. But That Hardly Means The Journey Wasn’t A Joy.”
Delamain Taxi
Great quotes can come from all sorts of sources. This one comes from a taxi. More specifically, it comes from a Delamain vehicle, which is an AI taxi company. You ride in one of these vehicles after V wakes up from a coma in Phantom Liberty’s additional ending.

Make sure to take some time to listen to these radio stations in Cyberpunk 2077.
Delamain helps V return to Night City. The car also gives them a nice bit of advice about enjoying life and not focusing too much on their own mortality. It’s a powerful message, especially for someone like V, who spends the game knowing they’re going to perish.
10 “Before It All Goes Dark… For One Last Second, I’ll Know I Wasn’t Alone.”
Songbird
Songbird is a complicated character. She hurts many people and makes a bunch of mistakes. Yet, it’s easy to feel sorry for the Netrunner. She is facing her own demise, after all, and is clearly desperate to avoid it. In one scene, as she’s heading toward death, she sees many of her memories, as does V. Songbird questions whether people die with only their memories to comfort them.
She also finds some comfort in V, pointing out that she’ll, at least, die knowing she’s not alone. It’s a tear-jerking line that shows why Songbird is one of the best characters in the game. She’s certainly among the best-designed.
9 “To Our Dreams. For They Alone Keep Us Sane.”
V
Alex is one of the most interesting characters that Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty introduces. She’s very professional, and most of V’s conversations with her are about business. That is until she invites V to her bar to talk in what is one of the DLC’s best moments. In this conversation, she opens up a bit and discusses her dreams. V can then toast to both of their dreams and how they convince them to keep going.
It makes for a nice toast, but it is also somewhat true for both characters. Neither will likely achieve their dreams, but the fact they exist gives them something to strive for and serve as a light at the end of the dark tunnel that is their lives.
8 “Your Body Can Be Chrome… But The Heart Never Changes. It Wants What It Wants.”
Lizzy Wizzy
Lizzy Wizzy is one of the biggest celebrities in Night City, whose defining feature is her fully chrome body. In the Violence side job, she talks to V about being in love with her manager. Before the protagonist can interject, she makes it clear that she understands the problems that their relationship could create.
However, despite all the changes to her body, deep down, she is still human, and she doesn’t choose who she loves. It’s an interesting line because it shows that the people of 2077 aren’t too different from those of today.
7 “You’ll Follow This Breadcrumb Trail, And When You Connect The Dots All You’ll See Is A D**k.”
Johnny Silverhand
During the Killing in the Name side job, you spend plenty of time tracking a signal that bounces around various data points. Throughout it all, Johnny is complaining about the situation and calling it a waste of time. Naturally, many of his gripes are very witty and make Killing in the Name one of the better side quests.
His best quip comes when he predicts that the wild goose chase is going to end with a d**k. And to be fair, his prediction is not that far off the mark, which makes the quote even funnier.
6 “Fear Isn’t A Weakness. It’s There To Protect You.”
Skye
One of the most engrossing conversations in the entire game comes when V visits Skye at the Clouds Dollhouse. She is a doll who – due to fancy technology – knows more about V than anyone else.

How Many Side Quests Are In Cyberpunk 2077?
There’s a lot of content to complete in Cyberpunk 2077, from small gigs to long main quests. Here, you can learn how many side quests are in the game.
For instance, she knows that the protagonist is scared but doesn’t show it because they don’t want to seem weak. V defends their actions by claiming that weak people don’t survive in Night City. Skye then claims that fear is not a weakness in what is an impactful bit of dialog.
5 “We Shouldn’t Fear Change Itself, But Only Who We Might Change Into.”
Misty Olszewski
Misty is wiser and more spiritual than the average Night City resident. She proves that when she delivers this wonderful line about fearing change. The greatness of the quote comes from the fact that it has both real-life and in-game significance.
Change isn’t something to be scared of as it’s unavoidable. You should be more concerned with trying to control the end result. For V, that ‘end result’ could be Johnny, which is a thought they wrestle with for much of the story and plays a part in the game’s endings.
4 “Lemme Pretend I Exist Sometimes, Ok?”
Johnny Silverhand
There’s a moment in Cyberpunk when V introduces themselves to some people before Johnny does the same. Of course, as he’s in V’s head, nobody can hear him but the protagonist. And their reaction is to cut Johnny off.
The rocker then responds by asking V to let him pretend to exist. It all makes for a funny little interaction. Plus, it’s hard not to feel a bit of sympathy for Johnny at that moment.
3 “…And To Jackie.”
Panam Palmer
Jackie’s death is one of the saddest moments in the game, especially since he’s pretty much the only ally you trust at the time. Later on, you meet several more friends, including Panam, who also loses a loved one.
When V gives a tribute to her deceased friend, she adds “and to Jackie.” It’s such a small moment, but it’s a great gesture from the Nomad. In fact, that interaction alone is enough reason to want to romance Panam.
2 “I Just Want The World To Know I Was Here. That I Mattered.”
V
In the conversation with Skye at Clouds, V opens up a lot – possibly because she already knows most of their wants and desires. The line that stands out the most, though, is where they reveal their ultimate goal. All the protagonist wants is to be remembered as a person who matters.
The scene is still relatively early into the game. Therefore, that might not be the case by the end. Yet, V’s initial dream is to make an impact on the world, which they end up doing.
1 “He Burned Down Half The City Just To Prove He Was Right And Burned The Other Half Just For Fun.”
Information Entry
Despite the fact that Cyberpunk includes plenty of great characters, one of the best quotes is an information entry. In just a single line, the entry sums up Johnny’s personality pretty well. The man has some noble intentions, but his crusade against Arasaka isn’t just about doing what’s right.
He has a large ego, plus he loves the chaos that bringing down a major corporation creates. And these things are also a driving force in his pursuit. These flaws are what make Johnny such a compelling character.
