The first season of the anime adaptation of The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You manga created by Rikito Nakamura and Yukiko Nozawa aired in 2023, and it was an easy contender for the titles of romance anime of the year and romantic comedy anime of the year for its uniquely outlandish approach to the well-established anime harem trope.

The hilarity continues with the upcoming second season of the anime, which will likely introduce the next five fated girlfriends of series protagonist Rentarō Aijō. Here’s some of what you can expect from season 2 of Hyakkano coming in January, based on the manga and information that has been revealed about the series’ production.

What Can We Expect From Season 2

More Girlfriends, More Wackiness and More References to Other Media

100 Girlfriends anime

As you might have guessed based on the introduction of four new cast members, Rentarō is set to connect with four more soulmates who will each have a different personality and be representative of some kind of character archetype popular in anime, while also being a rather fresh take on said archetype. The next four include a girl who gets intensely hangry, a Komi-san Can’t Communicate reference with bangs, an ojō-san and a tomboy. Some of the crazy plotlines coming up reiterate the series’ status as a great example of meeting expectations while subverting them, with a quick Freaky Friday plotline to warm things up before we meet Kurumi Haraga, a girl who absolutely loves food, but due to her insanely fast metabolism, she winds up hungry (and angry) so fast that it makes her unpleasant to be around, but Rentaro is very patient.

Soon enough, Kurumi and the other girlfriends wind up in an eating competition in order to win a rare dessert. There’s a ridiculous Dragon Ball DAIMA plotline, with the seven girlfriends getting turned into babies, once again due to Kusuri’s pharmaceutical hijinks. These are just some of the wacky adventures you can expect from season 2, and those are just the ones that happen after Rentarō meets his first new soulmate of the new season, which, based on what happens in the manga, is going to be even crazier than the first.

The second season of The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You will be simulcast on Crunchyroll on Sundays from January 12.
