Stranger Things has been one of Netflix’s biggest shows and for a good reason. With a stellar cast and an impressive supernatural storyline, the popular series has kept viewers firmly in their seats for the past four seasons, and that, in itself, is a huge accomplishment these days. Now, after a very long run, Stranger Things season five shares one of its biggest updates on its fifth and final season, and it’s an emotional time for many who have been with the series from the start.
Filming on its last season finally got underway on January 8th, 2024 after shooting for the Netflix series was postponed due to the WGA writers strike and SAG-AFTRA strike. The epic Netflix sci-fi show has been gearing up for its big season five finale in 2025, and it’s clear that it’s going to be one heck of a rollercoaster for the town of Hawkins, and the rest of the gang. To highlight this, fans also got a glimpse at what episodes will be included in Stranger Things‘ upcoming final season, which revealed that the returning series will be set in 1987, and it seems as though viewers will be in for a much darker season this time around.

The Final Season Of Stranger Things Has Wrapped Filming
According to numerous posts from the show’s cast members, Stranger Things season five has finally wrapped filming. Days before the final Stranger Things scenes were filmed this week, the cast celebrated the end of a long era with a huge wrap party on Saturday, December 14, which saw Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Mazzarro, Caleb McLaughlin, Joe Keery, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, and Maya Hawke all finally taking a breather after 11 months of hard work filming.
Even though this is great news that Stranger Things season five has wrapped, emotions are high among its fanbase. While some are overjoyed that they’ll get to finally see the show again after such a long time, others are sad that it’s the last time they’ll get to celebrate something like this again due to it being the last season in the Stranger Things world as we know it. It’s also quite a big concern that, given how long the series has been in production, it could mean that viewers might not see it premiere until around October 2025.
Over the past few weeks and months, plenty of teases and updates on how the show is coming along as well as behind-the-scenes images have kept the show’s anticipation at an all-time high. David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper in Stranger Things, revealed that fans should be more than happy with season five, stating it will be a “rich, satisfying meal”. As of now, a release date hasn’t been confirmed, but the final season is slated for sometime in 2025.
