The day before Sonic 3 debuts in cinemas, Paramount Pictures has confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is in the works and aiming to release at some point in 2027.
It’s been a long road of teases, leaks, and speculation about whether Crush 40’s Live and Learn would make an appearance, but Sonic the Hedgehog’s third movie is about to release in cinemas tomorrow, December 20. Early reviews and impressions have painted a very bright picture for it, and with the first and second films doing very well, it seems guaranteed to be a big win.

It seems that’s the train of thought that Paramount is on as well as, literally one day before Sonic 3 comes out, it’s been confirmed that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is already in development. Not only that, but it’s also got a release window of Spring 2027, meaning we’re not that far away from seeing what comes next.

Beyond that, Paramount is keeping extremely tight-lipped about Sonic 4 and what it might entail. Jeff Fowler has worked on all three movies so far and seems to be on a Sonic winning streak, so it’s likely that he’ll return for another movie even if that hasn’t been confirmed yet. The real question is whether Keanu Reeves’ Shadow and Jim Carrey’s Eggman will end up appearing in the sequel as well.
