An Overwatch 2 player has shared a piece of concept art with the shooter’s community, fusing the hero D.Va with her Mech, and the results are nothing short of nightmarish. D.Va is a popular character in Overwatch 2 and a member of the MEKA (Mobile Exo-Force of the Korean Army) team. During Season 12, the hero notably dominated competitive play, which caused some controversy in the player base, but the character remains a go-to pilot and inspiration for compelling fan art submissions.

Overwatch 2 is a sequel and replacement of the 2016 hero shooter of the same name, with the successor offering new game modes and reduced team size, with a recalibrated focus on player-versus-player elements. Overwatch 2’s Winter Wonderland has recently returned in 2024, and the event has brought more rewards than ever. Players can obtain new skins for Marionette, Cassidy, and Widowmake, and the festivities are scheduled to run until January 6, 2025.

The artist explained they had tried to produce a “clean” mock-up, but what transpired was something akin to “Eldritch horror.” One design showed D.Va completely encased in the mech suit, but the other involved the character’s oversized head mounted on the hero’s legs. This isn’t the first time the hero has been subjected to a jarring redesign, as another Overwatch fan produced a terrifying concept for D.Va’s Mech.

Redditors weren’t sure if some Overwatch fans were serious when they admitted they would pay any money to play these skins. Referencing the giant head design, another player said the Mech would need to drip saliva and also noted the self-destruct would get gory. Similarly, a recent Overwatch 2 bug turned D.Va’s heist skin unsettling, matching the same “abomination” standard as these Mech designs.


D.Va, whose real name is Hana Song, is a South Korean eSports star and Tank hero in the Overwatch franchise and was one of the 21 launch heroes when the game first released. The character’s Mech boasts twin Fusion Cannons capable of autofire at short range, and the Boosters can be used to avoid enemies and obstacles and absorb attacks through the Defense Matrix. Outside of the Mech, D.Va has several great skins in Overwatch 2, offering many styles to match players’ gameplay.
