Developer Slavic Magic has revealed a preview of Manor Lords‘ upcoming update, which will introduce a bridge-building system, new animations, new maps, and more. These additions will be available soon in Manor Lords‘ public beta.
Since launching in early access in April 2024, Manor Lords has seen incredible success, selling more than 1 million copies within the first 24 hours and over 2.5 million copies by September. Resulting from a seven-year development journey (led by just one person), the game has earned praise for its focus on historical accuracy and engaging mechanics, among other things. One standout feature is its gridless building system, which allows players the freedom to create settlements that feel like they’ve developed organically, much like real medieval towns. The game remains in early access, and the developer is revealing the content players can expect in the next update.

Manor Lords May Be About to Close 2024 With a Bang
Medieval city-builder Manor Lords is set to get a massive new update, and it could potentially be a strong finale to the year.
As revealed in a blog post, the next Manor Lords update will introduce several exciting new features and improvements to the game. A major highlight of this update is the new bridge-building tool. This system works with the existing road tool, letting players build bridges over rivers to connect important areas, which is practical but also adds visual charm to their settlements. The update will also include a reworked deep mine mechanic with updated cranking animations. Workers will now go underground to gather resources, making the game feel even more realistic.
Manor Lords’ Upcoming Content
- Bridge Building Tool
- Reworked Deep Mine and Cranking Animations
- Overstock Mechanic
- Map Selection and New Playable Maps
As previously teased by Manor Lords‘ developer, two new maps, High Peaks and Winding River, will also be introduced. These maps will offer different kinds of terrain for players to explore and build upon. Players will also have a new map selection feature to make it easier to choose their preferred gameplay settings. The update also improves resource management with the introduction of an overstock mechanic. This feature helps manage resources in larger settlements by allowing workers to stockpile goods in advance.
Additionally, Manor Lords‘ unit organization gets a quality-of-life boost with the ability to reorder unit cards. Players can now drag and drop unit cards to organize their armies more efficiently. Players will soon be able to try out all these new additions in the game’s public beta.
Despite the game’s updates, Manor Lords has faced some criticism for its slow development pace earlier this year. In response, the publisher defended the studio’s approach, emphasizing the importance of sustainable growth over adopting a live-service model that could lead to burnout. As fans eagerly await the opportunity to test these new features, the developer remains committed to refining the game.
