It looks like the extremely positive response to new Intel Arc B580 Battlemage GPUs is already leading to stock issues. According to Intel, “demand is high” for the chip maker’s brand new, budget-friendly graphics card, with stock levels already low at most retailers, just a week after its official launch date.
At last, it looks like Intel has a genuine graphics card success on its hands. Early B580 testing shows performance that easily challenges some of the best graphics cards out there for budget gamers, including the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060. Considering the B580’s $250 price tag, this means there’s finally a genuinely strong budget GPU for gamers.
At the moment, the new Intel Arc B580 Battlemage GPU is listed as out of stock or not available for purchase at several major retailers, including Best Buy, Amazon, and Newegg. In comments made to The Verge, an Intel spokesperson claimed that “most retailers have sold through their initial inventory” after the announcement.
However, there’s good news – more stock is coming, and fast. Intel went on to say that the chipmaker “expect[s] weekly inventory replenishments” to reach retailers, and that it is already “working with partners to ensure a steady availability” of this brand new, game-changing gaming GPU.
Intel’s success comes not a moment too soon, either. With Nvidia reportedly planning to launch its new RTX 5000 series graphics cards at the CES 2025 trade show in January, including top-spec GPUs like the RTX 5090, the market is going to be upended with very expensive options. Rumored RTX 5090 pricing, for example, is expected to start at $1,999, but will likely be even higher once it launches.
A $250 graphics card might seem less mighty in comparison, but for budget gamers, the holidays have come early. With the Intel Arc B580, and possibly with the yet-to-launch B570, it finally looks like there might be serious alternatives for gamers who don’t want to spend a huge amount of money to play the latest games with ray tracing enabled.
