- The studio may also be developing a new IP.
MachineGames, the Bethesda studio behind the recently released Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, seems to be working on more than one unannounced project. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was released earlier in December to glowing reviews, with many critics and fans alike calling it one of 2024’s best games, despite it missing the cutoff date for Geoff Keighley’s 2024 Game Awards.
Prior to making Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, MachineGames had been known as the Wolfenstein studio at Bethesda, handling the rebooted FPS franchise. MachineGames made a total of four Wolfenstein titles in five years, which includes 2014’s The New Order and 2017’s sequel The New Colossus, as well as their respective follow-up spin-offs The Old Blood and Youngblood. Before The Great Circle was announced several years ago, the leading theory was that MachineGames was working on the third mainline Wolfenstein game. Now that the studio’s Indiana Jones game is out the door, fans of MachineGames are clamoring for Wolfenstein 3 once more.

While Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is an instant hit, MachineGames has made a ton of excellent games in its short history as a developer.
On LinkedIn, MachineGames’ Audio Director Pete Ward updated his experience section now that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has been released. The updated text now mentions that he’s worked on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and is also now working on “unannounced projects.” This almost certainly means that MachineGames may very well be developing more than one game post-Indiana Jones. Exactly what these games are remains a mystery.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Studio May Be Working On More Than One Game
It’s very possible that one of these unannounced projects could be Wolfenstein 3. Summer 2025 will mark six years since the latest in the series, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, and a whopping eight years since Wolfenstein 2 in 2017. It’s also not outside the realm of possibility that these projects could be a mainline and spinoff Wolfenstein combo, with the spinoff set to release a year or two after Wolfenstein 3, just like the previous two main entries. One of these games being a new IP is also a possibility, but the chances of MachineGames immediately working on another Indy game are slim, unless it’s a small standalone spin-off piece.
Although one or more of these projects have likely been in the works alongside The Great Circle, it may still be a year or two at least before fans of MachineGames can expect to learn what these games are. In the meantime, the studio is planning on bringing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle over to PlayStation 5 at some point in early 2025, though a release date has yet to be confirmed.
