Hollow Knight is considered by many players to be one of the best 2D side-scrollers of the last 10 years. Not only does the title feature an amazing world called the Hallownest, filled with buglike creatures (both friendly and not), but it also offers players excellent combat mechanics, challenging bosses, and various Charms to take advantage of.
As you explore the Hallownest, you’ll often find yourself in different locations where an extra source of light can come in handy. Walking in the darkness might be okay for some areas, but in others, like the Deepnest, being able to see where you’re going is critical to survival and progress. Here’s how to get the Lumafly Lantern in Hollow Knight.

The Best Charm Combos In Hollow Knight
Hollow Knight, despite cute appearances, isn’t an easy game. These combinations of charms can help players get through it more easily.
How To Get The Lumafly Lantern
The Lumafly Lantern is sold by Sly, a vendor whose shop is located in Dirtmouth. However, if you haven’t explored the Forgotten Crossroads area enough and rescued him, you won’t be able to find him, and his shop will be closed.
Once you rescue Sly, his shop will be open for business, but it should be mentioned that the item in question isn’t cheap by any means—at least not when you’re in the early stages of the game.
The Lumafly Lantern costs a whopping 1,800 Geo, which is not pocket change, especially considering how little Geo enemies drop at that point. That said, the Lumafly Lantern is a sound investment that will make your life much easier.

Here are facts about the Five Great Knights fans of the platformer game need to know.
How To Rescue Sly
Rescuing Sly is pretty straightforward. All you have to do is descend from Dirtmouth to the Forgotten Crossroads area, go left and drop through the many platforms there while hugging the wall on the right. When you reach the bottom, keep going right. You’ll know you’re going the right way if you encounter the Gruz Mother mini-boss. Once you defeat her, keep heading right, and you’ll eventually find a small, broken-down hut. There, you’ll find Sly—talk to him and then return to Dirtmouth. Sly’s shop is located on the left of the resting bench in the area. Once you return, you’ll see the shop is open, and it has many items for sale.
If, at any point during your Hollow Knight playthrough, you feel like you’re struggling too much or dying too often, you can always try finding as many Mask Shards as you can to increase the number of hits you can take. You won’t be able to access all of them without progressing through the game up to certain points, but the few you can find or buy from the get-go will make an enormous difference.
