As you play Infinity Nikki, you’ll encounter a huge number of quests offering useful rewards. One particularly valuable early quest is called “Purify! The Scent in the Cavern”, which introduces players to Whim Fragrances and unlocks your first Whim Fragrance when completed.
Whim Fragrances are special perfumes that, when crafted and applied to an outfit, grant additional power to an ability outfit. In this case, completing “Purify! The Scent in the Cavern” in Infinity Nikki will unlock the Traveller’s Musing Fragrance, which allows you to charge your attacks with the Purification Outfit to turn them into homing shots.

Infinity Nikki: How to Get and Use Dew of Inspiration
Learning how to get and use the Dew of Inspiration resource in Infinity Nikki is quite important, here’s why.
Purify! The Scent in the Cavern
The quest begins when you meet a mysterious man sweeping the road north of Florawish. He’s muttering to himself about treasure in a cave, drawing the attention of Nikki and Momo. He’ll ask them for some help dealing with Esselings further up the road. They should pose little to no threat to Nikki, so use the Purifying Outfit to deal with them and return to the man (whose name is Eremita) to report in.
When you return, he’ll thank Nikki and tell her about a cave nearby containing a treasure of great value to Stylists. Take his advice and go check out the cave next. In the cave, you can find a journal mentioning something called a “Whim Fragrance.” Continue forward through the cave from here to find a large chamber with a chest and some Esselings to fight. Purify them, crack open the chest, and then move further in.
There’s a section ahead with ledges to jump to and Esselings on the ground below, so hop from ledge to ledge to grab some Bling, then drop down to deal with the Esselings (we’ll need materials they drop later on) and grab some Dew of Inspiration too. Continuing onward through the cave to the next room, you’ll find a section where you can climb up (Near a log you can sit down on).
Jump across the gap shown above and head onward and upward. You’ll encounter Esselings that can spit projectile attacks on the path ahead, but they still go down in a single hit so they won’t be much trouble. A little way past the projectile Esseling you can take a detour to the right to find a Whimstar. Following the main path will wind around to another jump.
Float across to where the Blings are and you’ll reach a tunnel filled with Esselings. Take them out with the Purification Outfit (keep an eye on the ones that spit projectiles so you don’t get hit) and you’ll be able to open a chest just past them. This chest contains the Herbal Scent, which is the item Eremita sent you to find. There’s a hole nearby that’ll take you back to the entrance, so head back to Eremita to learn more about your new treasure.
Once you return to Eremita, he’ll explain that similar materials can be found in other Caverns across the land and that they can be used in the creation of Whim Fragrances. He’ll then task you with crafting the Traveller’s Musings Whim Fragrance. Unlock it in the Heart of Infinity Menu, then craft it (One particular Material can be a bit tricky, so I’ve included a section below on how to find it more easily) and speak to Eremita again to complete the quest.
How to Find a Tricky Patch
The most frustrating material to find in the Traveller’s Musings recipe is called “Tricky Patch.” These are dropped by Spear Sacks, an enemy that spawns in a few different locations throughout the game. You’ll have encountered a few of them in the Cavern while you were retrieving the Herbal Scent, but you’ll need to find a few more to get the materials you need. A fair few of them spawn in the area shown on the map above (The Secret Base Warp Spire is the closest.)
After grabbing all the Tricky Patches you can in the area mentioned previously, you can get a few more by heading to the woods marked in the image above and seeking out more Spear Sacks there (The nearest Warp Spire is Florawish Lane).
