Path Of Exile 2: Where To Find Every Optional Boss In Act One
There are a lot of optional bosses in Path of Exile 2. Here, you can find all the optional bosses for Act One.
To chase Jamanra further into the desert, you’ll first need to assemble the Horn of Orbala to blow away the desert sand and wind. This will take you on three different quests to get the parts needed for the horn, including the The City of Seven Waters quest to find the Essence of Water. Below, we’ll take a look at how to beat Azarian, who is guarding the Essence of Water in Keth.
Where To Find Azarian, The Forsaken Son
Azarian, the Forsaken Son is the final boss of the quest The City of Seven Waters, which brings you to Keth in Act 2. After making your way through Keth, the Lost City, and finally the Buried Shrines, you will find Azarian guarding the tomb of the Water Goddess.
How To Defeat Azarian, The Forsaken Son
This fight will take place in a square-shaped arena with a large brazier in each corner of the room. If any attack, whether it’s yours or the boss’s, hits one of these braziers, it will explode, spreading fire into that corner of the arena.
If all four braziers are destroyed, most of the arena will be covered in this fire, making the very center of the arena the only safe place. This puts you at a severe disadvantage, as Azarian will frequently move to your position and use his attacks from the center of the arena, meaning you’ll have to step into the fire to avoid them.
If you can,
avoid hitting these braziers as you fight Azarian
, and try to keep him away from them, too.
Here are each of the attacks Azarian will use throughout the fight, and how to avoid them.
Attack |
Description |
Notes |
---|---|---|
Flaming Advance |
Azarian will spin around his weapons while charging forward in a straight line, dealing damage with every swing. |
Before the attack, Azarian will very briefly charge up, telegraphing this attack. Watch for this sign, then dodge out of the way to avoid taking damage. |
Fireball Toss |
Azarian will thrust his arm into the ground before throwing balls of fire that spread in a cone. This attack will sometimes produce a wall of fire along the trajectory of the fireballs, which persists for a few seconds. |
The fireballs Azarian throws will be opposite to the side he pulls them out of the ground, so you can get an idea of where they will fly. |
Flame Shot |
Azarian will spread his arms back before thrusting them forward, throwing out a cone of fire |
When Azarian spreads out his arms, get ready to dodge to either side of him to avoid this attack. |
Flame Slam |
Azarian will raise his arms up before slamming them down to his front, creating two waves of fire in a short cone. |
Azarian will turn slightly when using this attack, so dodging immediately when you see him raise his arms might get you hit anyway. Instead, try to wait until the very last moment to dodge to the side. |
Azarian will use this set of attacks until he is defeated. Of these attacks, Flame Slam does the most damage and is harder to avoid, but the real danger of this fight are the pools of flame created by the broken braziers. Whatever you do, try to avoid breaking these; this will make your life a lot easier.
We recommend
boosting up your fire resistance
for this fight. Any equipment that has fire resistance will greatly reduce the amount of damage you take, and a
Ruby Charm
will also help a lot with your survival.
Depending on your class and build, you may have a harder or easier time with this boss. In general, ranged builds will be a bit safer, but are more susceptible to the pools of fire should a brazier explode, as this will force you next to the boss in the center of the arena where you are at a disadvantage.
On the other hand, melee builds will need to be careful of Azarian’s Flaming Advance, as this can drag you along with him, potentially dealing damage multiple times while putting you in an unfavorable position.
Overall, the key to victory against this boss and any other in PoE2 is to keep trying. Eventually, you’ll get the hang of Azarian’s patterns and attack timing, and at that point victory is only a matter of time.
