Yesterday, Helldivers 2 released the first half of its surprise Killzone 2 crossover, but this exciting new reveal was immediately undercut by an enormous wave of backlash over the expensive price tag.

As pointed out by Reddit user Vincent201007, things got so bad that Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani responded directly, reassuring players that their feedback is being taken on board while also explaining why the cosmetics have been priced as such.
The first half of the crossover alone costs 1,975 Super Credits, or £15.99.
“Firstly – this is our first collaboration so we’ll be figuring it out as we go along. Let us know what you’d like to see in the future,” Jorjani posted in the official Discord. “Secondly it’s optional – the more of this we sell – the more Illuminate type stuff we can keep dropping for free.”

Guerrilla has confirmed what all Killzone fans knew deep down.
Disappointed that the Warbond idea was scrapped, one commenter asked Pilestedt directly what happened; “The reason we changed it from a Warbond was actually because there were concerns that having a higher priced Warbond would carry negative sentiment,” he explained.
Pilestedt — like Jorjani — also assured that the team is taking feedback on board and “getting a sense for what y’all think.” It’ll be a while yet before the next crossover, as Pilestedt explains that it doesn’t want Helldivers 2 to “turn into a diluted IP”, so we’ll just have to wait and see whether the pricing remains the same going forward.
