The popular Asus ROG Ally handheld gaming PC is back at its lowest ever price, just before the holidays. This Asus ROG Ally deal is as good as it gets, knocking a huge $150 off Best Buy’s retail price for both the AMD Ryzen Z1 and Z1 Extreme versions of this popular Steam Deck rival, with the Z1 version’s discounted $349.99 price making it one of the cheapest entry-level gaming handheld devices you can buy now.
Both these Asus handhelds may have now been surpassed by newer models, such as the Asus ROG Ally X, but they’re still among the best handheld gaming PC devices you can buy. You’ll also be hard-pressed to find a Windows gaming handheld with this level of power for a cheaper price.
The AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme Edition is a powerful Steam Deck rival in its own right, and as our Asus ROG Ally review points out, its specs run rings around the Steam Deck. It offers a 7-inch IPS display for 1080p gaming, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB M.2 SSD for storage, while the Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU has eight cores and 16 threads, and the GPU offers 12 RDNA 3 Compute Units, all offering a big gaming performance boost compared to its Valve competitor.
The Z1 model, meanwhile, is a slightly different beast. The non-Extreme APU has only six cores and 12 threads, while the GPU has only four Compute Units. The other specs remain the same, however, with the same 7-inch display, 16GB RAM, and 512GB SSD. It’s a much slower handheld than the Z1 Extreme, but the price is stellar enough to make it a really intriguing entry-level option for gamers.
Both the Z1 and Z1 Extreme models are also on offer right now from Best Buy. You can grab the Asus ROG Ally Z1 Extreme for $499.99, down from Best Buy’s retail price of $649.99. The Z1 model, meanwhile, is now just $349.99, down from $499.99. You can grab both the Z1 Extreme and Z1 models from Best Buy via this link.
