Both Lucy and Soukaku’s voice actors have been replaced, and their voice lines have already changed.

But this audience is now up in arms, as following the game’s latest update, they’ll no longer be able to sneak a peak at the characters’ backsides.

Zenless Zone Zero Is Stopping You From Looking At Butt

Zenless Zone Zero’s latest update allows players to roam the world as any agent they have unlocked. Previously, this wasn’t the case.

In anticipation of players choosing their favorite waifu and then unceremoniously zooming in on areas they shouldn’t, the Zenless Zone Zero team has made a polarizing change.

The change in the game’s official patch notes reads: “Adjusts the Agents’ display for certain angles: When viewed from specific angles, the Agent will appear faded.” Effectively, “If you try to look at their butts, we’ll make the character disappear.” This, as you might expect, has caused the Zenless Zone Zero community to have a normal one.

On Twitter, one user described the news as “9/11 for gooners“, while another called for their money back.

Similarly, a thread on Reddit garnered over 2,000 upvotes, 350 comments, and five awards in its first eight hours, mostly from upset players. Comments ranged from “Jesus Christ, it’s really over” to “Man, this does rain on my excitement for the patch. This is so unnecessary,” and many more were of this ilk.

It wasn’t all despair, though. A more rounded comment from Amphabian said, “Hoyo is trying to walk the line between making sure kids can still play the game and making it sexy enough to appeal to the standard audience that plays these games. While it’ll upset fans, there’s still plenty of fan service that will keep them coming back.”

This isn’t the first time in recent months that a developer has added a similar feature to a game. In November, Stellar Blade added a Nier-inspired feature for its Nier Automata crossover. If players try to zoom in on Eve’s behind, she’ll punt the camera away to stop it. The First Descendant, on the other hand, has decided to go in the other direction, promising players it will be adding ‘jiggle physics’ in a later update.
