Zenless Zone Zero 1.4 is here. Perhaps the most-anticipated update since the stylish anime gacha game kicked down our doors and demanded our attention, ZZZ 1.4 is packed with promising new story content and some of its most exciting additions yet. With a new update comes more freebies, of course, and HoYoverse delivers again. Alongside a free S-rank agent, you can claim free Master Tape and plenty of Polychrome in the new ZZZ update, so don’t miss your chance to get a headstart on Miyabi.
With the Zenless Zone Zero 1.4 release date finally here, the focus for most players is going to be the arrival of Hoshimi Miyabi. The long-eared swordsman caught our eye with a flashy first appearance early in the game’s story, and spending more time with her during Yanagi’s 1.3 story missions only made her more lovable. Getting your hands on a new character in a gacha game always requires tough decisions about where to prioritize your spending, so the chance to get some free Zenless Zone Zero pulls is always a welcome bonus.
As is tradition, the update has been met with a rerun of one of the best ZZZ events, the All-New Program. This gives you a total of ten free Master Tapes by logging in for a total of seven days within the next 34 (carrying us through to the expected arrival of Astra Yao in January). You can use these on either of the exclusive channels, allowing you to pull for either of the new playable characters, Miyabi or Harumasa.
For the first time, two Zenless Zone Zero banners are running at once. Honed Blade of Reflection features Miyabi alongside A-ranks Piper and Soukaku, while Per Aspera stars Harumasa as well as two of ZZZ’s best supporting characters, Lucy and Seth. Even better, you’ll get Harumasa for free just for logging in, along with enough upgrade materials and Denny to take the character of your choice up to level 40.
All players who were Inter-Knot level four before the update will get 600 Polychrome as compensation for server downtime and other issues. You’ll need to claim this from your mail in the next 30 days. While you’re there, you’ll find another 800 Polychrome in your inbox as a thank you to all players for ZZZ’s nominations in the Best Mobile Game and Player’s Choice categories at The Game Awards 2024. This also only lasts 30 days, so grab it while you can.
If you want to supplement this, a fresh round of Shiyu Defense puts 720 Polys up for grabs – and if you performed well last time, you’ll automatically get some of these immediately. The main story, A Storm of Falling Stars, kicks off the fifth chapter of the main quest, so expect a good chunk of additional currency in there as well.
A new Hollow Zero investigation has begun, with 340 Polychrome and more upgrade materials among the current Exploration log rewards. Every five levels of investigation progress will also net you a further 80 Polychrome, too. Then there’s another 20 Polychrome for checking out Miyabi’s audition stage, and 20 more for completing Harumasa’s tutorial.
New Agent Trust events for Miyabi, Soukaku, and Harumasa have also been added – expect 80 Polychrome each as you level them up, with a further 50 from the ‘Quality Time’ events available once their affection is maxed out. Suffice it to say, you won’t want to miss logging in for 1.4 if you’re still playing the free PC game.
