The 15 Most Expensive Miniatures You Can Buy

The 15 Most Expensive Miniatures You Can Buy

It is a well-known fact among many that tabletop games are pretty expensive, especially among Warhammer 40K fans. Models of the famed wargame are almost exorbitantly expensive, with army boxes running anywhere from 100 to 200 dollars, and that is just to get started. If you want a full-fledged army, it will cost much more, and to play more than just one faction, as most people do, you are going to need to be able to pay up even more.

But as expensive as this sounds, and as taxing as the process of painting and gluing these figures already is, it is nothing compared to some models in Warhammer 40K that are more expensive than entire armies. These models are often unfathomably rare, finely crafted, astoundingly massive, or all the above, hence their hefty price tag. Here are the most expensive figures in the Warhammer 40K franchise and how much they cost.

Updated On December 17th, 2024 By Joshua Leeds:
Each of these models has tabletop rules for those willing to invest the points into using them. While they will cost a pretty penny to get on the table, some can be incredibly worthwhile to get and even use. This article has been updated to include the baseline stats for each model along with the strongest weapon they have access to.

KX139 Ta’unar Supremacy Armour is among the T’au Empire’s most aspiring projects and grandest mechs, standing at a height comparable to Knights and Tyranid monstrosities. This invention was the answer to the problem of T’au heavy flyers being unable to compete with far more formidable enemies. Equipped with missiles and devastating long-range armaments, the KX139 Ta’unar Supremacy Armour can eradicate even the most imposing and towering foes, bringing them down with a barrage of shots.

KX139 Ta’unar Supremacy Armour is expensive, but for several good reasons: it is huge, detailed, and somewhat rare. The model stands tall and possesses various weaponry of equal size, everything with the utmost attention to detail, from the inner workings of the model to its massive guns. If that was not enough, the KX139 Ta’unar Supremacy Armour is always out of stock, as it is among the most prized models of any T’au army. Although, the price is well worth the fun of putting the model together and painting it.

The Mars Pattern Warhound Titan is a variant of the deadly war machine known as the Warhound Titan, an Imperial Titan best known for scouting enemy lines, flanking, and being among the smallest. The Mars Pattern Warhound Titan is more or less the same, although with a unique design inspired by the Red Planet.

The Mars Pattern Warhound Titan is expensive not only because it is a sizable and nicely designed model but also because of its distinct appearance from typical Warhound Titans. The model’s look is far more detailed and eye-catching, making it a work of art while retaining its threatening appearance and imposing stature. The Manta is a magnificent transport of the T’au Empire that can carry a vast number of soldiers and vehicles while remaining a deadly war machine in its own right. This air and space-faring craft can hold an entire T’au army safely to any location, able to sustain destructive shots with its tough armor and eliminate oncoming foes with weaponry more impressive than anything produced by the Imperium of Man. The Manta’s ability to transport armies and contribute to the fight makes it a prized vehicle among the T’au and a game-changing force in battle.

The Manta is the largest Warhammer 40K model that is two feet in length with a longer than two feet wingspan. The model goes for $2,010, making it the most expensive model in the tabletop. That price seems ridiculous until one considers the sheer size of the Manta, then recognizes that it is highly detailed and grants access to its interior, allowing other units to be placed and removed from it. Assembling and painting this model will take a long time, granting those working on it an excellent time killer, but when it is done, they will have a display piece unlike any other. Merely having the Manta on display is enough to justify the cost, but bringing it to the tabletop is far more thrilling.
