On December 16, Tekken 8 launched Patch 1.10.1, introducing Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy 16 as a playable fighter and an updated photo mode. The new Tekken 8 update also brought player search functionality for online matches and a new penalty system that will deduct ranking points if a player disconnects during a ranked match.
As the main protagonist of Final Fantasy 16, Clive is the fourth DLC fighter in Tekken 8‘s Year 1 Pass. Clive was revealed as Tekken 8‘s latest challenger during the 2024 edition of The Game Awards, where a trailer showed him facing off against Jin Kazama amid the flaming ruins of the Phoenix Gate. After the reveal, Tekken 8 fans initially compared Clive to Final Fantasy 15 protagonist Noctis, who appeared in Tekken 7 as a DLC fighter. Clive and the Phoenix Gate stage were released in early access on December 16 for players who purchased the Playable Character Year 1 Pass. Both Clive and his stage will be released as a general access bundle on December 19.

Along with the arrival of Clive in Tekken 8, Patch 1.10.1 brought other features for players to enjoy. After connecting to the internet and downloading Tekken 8 patch 1.10.1, players will notice a few changes upon starting the game. An updated photo mode has arrived in Tekken 8, which allows players to add grime and moisture to character poses, and adjust expressions, gazes, and hand gestures mid-shot. Tekken 8‘s photo mode update also allows frame-by-frame adjustments at 60 frames per second. Along with the photo mode changes, Patch 1.10.1 brought a new player search function that allows users to look up other players by name or Tekken ID. Users can then follow up with options such as friend requests, or blocking and reporting them.
Tekken 8 also introduced a new penalty system for ranked matches that will deduct ranking points from players who disconnect during a match. When points are reduced this way, a notification will appear in the main menu. Following up on past Tekken 8 updates like Patch 1.08 and 1.09, the 1.10.1 update included some adjustments to hitboxes and collision detection to address some unintended behaviors. Characters such as Heihachi, Paul, and Eddy benefited from Patch 1.10.1’s fixes, as some of their attacks would unintentionally whiff against opponents.
Although 2024 draws to a close, 2025 will also bring Tekken 8 Season 2 into the fold. With other features planned, only time will tell what surprises Bandai Namco has in store for Tekken fans in the year ahead.
