Ghostface will be making a return to scare fans on the big screen in 2026, with Scream 7 currently slated to release on February 27 of that year. The iconic horror franchise is set to produce one more story to help continue developing this world that has been shocking and entertaining audiences since 1996, with no signs of slowing down. Scream movies are notorious for bringing former characters back to help the story feel like one long-running narrative, and Scream 7 appears to be no different in that regard.

According to Variety, Mason Gooding will reprise his role as Chad Meeks-Martin in Scream 7. The highly anticipated horror movie will feature the football star who proved almost impossible to kill in the previous film despite being attacked countless times by Ghostface. He was a main character in the previous two Scream films, so seeing him appear once again will prove to be a popular choice with fans.

Since its confirmation, the seventh installment of the iconic horror franchise has dealt with a series of production delays and creative overhauls, which has led to audiences having some questions about what to expect from it. Melissa Barrera was fired from the project over social media posts she made, while Jenna Ortega also had to pull out of the film due to her conflicting shooting schedule for her hit Netflix show, Wednesday.

Gooding will not be the only familiar face appearing in the movie, though, as Neve Campbell is set to reprise her role as Sidney Prescott for this movie. She has been the classic hero within this franchise so far, but she opted to miss the sixth film after a dispute over salary. Despite that, she is back this time around with audiences excited to see how her character will have evolved after everything she’s been through in the previous movies. Kevin Williamson is also back behind the scenes and is directing his first-ever Scream movie. Even though he’s not directed a film within this franchise before, he did write the script for the original Scream in 1996 and, therefore, has a longstanding connection to it.

Bringing back familiar faces for Scream 7 will be important in connecting the previous movies and the ongoing story that has been taking place.
