Pokemon TCG Pocket Hides Mew In Multiple Mystical Island Cards

Summary

  • Mythical Island set in Pokemon TCG Pocket hides Mew in various cards, adding a fun Where’s Waldo element.
  • Cards like Drednaw, Joltik, and Weezing feature Mew cleverly hidden in the background.
  • Visual storytelling in TCG Pocket often sets it apart from physical TCG, enhancing the overall experience for players.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket has allowed The Pokemon Company’s artists to flex their creative muscles. We’re only two expansions into the game, and there have already been cards that put the real-world Pokemon TCG to shame.

But it’s not just stunning artwork that’s caught the eye. In Genetic Apex, the Ditto Illustration Rare hid a bunch of extra Dittos in the card, making it the Pokemon equivalent of Where’s Waldo?

Now, the new Mythical Island set has followed a similar idea, hiding the expansion’s featured Pokemon, Mew, in a range of extra cards.

Multiple Mews Hidden In Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket’s Mythical Island

First pointed out on Reddit by user WaluigisHat, Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket’s Mythical Island has a Mew hidden in various different cards.

The Drednaw card sees the Pokemon conspicuously looking towards the sky, and reflected in the water next to it is a Mew. Presumably, that’s what it’s looking at.

Joltik, on the other hand, features Mew, who is clearly visible in the background of the card, floating nonchalantly through the jungle. The Stonjourner card is very similar, with Mew flying behind the Stonehenge-like creature.

The Weezing card does a bit of a better job at hiding the Mythical Pokemon, whose tail can be seen poking out from behind its poisonous smog. And arguably, best of all, is the Chatot card, which features Mew’s little pink butt sticking out from a bush behind the Flying-type Pokemon.

It’s these little elements of visual storytelling that are so often absent from the physical Pokemon TCG that have made Trading Card Game Pocket so endearing, and long may it continue. Now, just be sure to add Pokemon of every type to new expansions so some decks aren’t left out.
